Phillies Fire Manager Joe Girardi
The Phillies have fired manager Joe Girardi in the wake of their recent free-fall in the NL East standings. Read more at MLB Trade Rumors.

Mets are running away with the East...best Phils can hope for is a Wild Card spotSurprised it took this long. They still won't catch the Mets, though.
you could say that about any manager. But they have a +1 run differential and they are 7 games below .500 so he definitely ain't helping. Not his fault they can't field, pitch, hit....

I'm hip. That's why he got firedHe can't make them any better
The bullpen is a crapshoot every year. A couple of those guys have had good seasons in the past. Familia looks like he's past his prime but Knebel and Hand have fairly good track records. Part of it might be the stress those relievers have put on them because of the bad defense. They literally have 5 or 6 guys in the lineup every day that should be DH.I'm no Girardi fan, but how can he, or any manager, win with that bullpen?

Doubt he’ll get another manager position, he might be a good assistant or third/first base coach or something like that.
MLB Network will be happy to bring him in.Doubt he’ll get another manager position, he might be a good assistant or third/first base coach or something like that.
Yeah, he wouldn’t be a bad analyst probably, I was just thinking he might not be done with the game itself yet, but who knows.MLB Network will be happy to bring him in.
