He turned down a QO from the Mets to go into free agency. He was unable (or unwilling) to sign anywhere, and now is out until ‘23.

Boras‘ aggressive strategy just cost this kid at least 18m. That is malpractice.

I was wondering why he wasn't signing anywhere. He probably knew he couldn't pass a physical.

When was he hurt? If he was hurt before he turned down the QO, that is just bad judgement (though, it could be he was doing the Mets a solid…). If he was hurt after he turned it down, wtf was he doing that blew out his shoulder?

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that free agent outfielder Michael Conforto landed "irregularly" on his right shoulder during a workout in January and wanted to return to 100 percent before resuming contract negotiations.​

Rosenthal adds that Conforto's agent, Scott Boras, says his client has regained his arm strength, is back hitting and throwing normally, and also began contract discussions with teams last week. This certainly explains why the 29-year-old outfielder has remained on the open market this spring as the last remaining high-profile free agent. Assuming he's fully healthy, his market should heat up rather quickly.
