I doubt that is accurate, but if true, that is a pretty big solid he did for the org to put off a roster decision.
Seems really weird to me as well. Why would a guy of his stature sign a 2 year minor league deal? Awfully risky to have only a wink and a nod that he'll make the big league roster. Sure, the Giants would look bad if they let him go or assigned him to the minor leagues but still a strange set up for Rodon when Verlander lands a big league deal and he doesn't.

He could have something like an opening 40-man opt-out clause, or the contract becomes MLB if he gets injured.

I think it is a typo, but there are pretty easy ways to make it happen. Though I doubt the PA or MLB would approve that contract.

I agree that there is some sort of error but whoever did it made the mistake on two different pages (transactions page and non-roster invitees page). He wasn't on the 40 man roster either when I checked yesterday.

:noidea:

Carlos Rodon and Carlos Martinez were signed back to back. Maybe they got confused between the two?

Dean DFA’d

Marty says Boyd was also placed on the 60 day, but that doesn’t make sense to make both those moves unless there is something else pending.

I will hold off placing Boyd on the 60 until I see it elsewhere…

I assume that the Giants had to make room on the 40 man roster before transferring him to the 60 day IL. I don't think a player can be added to the 60 day IL if he isn't already on the 40 man roster. Unfortunately, that means someone has to be moved in order for Boyd to even be eligible for the 60 day.

No idea if that is accurate, but it feels that it may be the case.

Roster Resource has him listed as an NRI.
Really don't know which one is accurate, since both websites seem to not always have correct information. He's still not listed as an NRI on the team website while Rodon is still listed as an NRI only (they list 39 players on the 40 man roster now).

If Boyd was in fact already added to the 60, 39 would be accurate. I actually trust that number.

Bunch of cuts over the last couple days.

It looks like I am missing 1 NRI. I have seen that we have 16 in camp after all the cuts, but I can only identify 15 currently in camp.

Taylor Williams was a recent signing. However, he's not on the NRI on the team website (which we all know, is great at producing accurate and up to date information).

I figured it was probably him, but he wasn’t listed as an NRI as roster resources either.

I will assume he is the missing name and add him.

Austin Dean cleared waivers. He stays in camp as an NRI.

Giants trade Will Toffey to the Phils for OF Luke Williams.

To make room for Williams on the 40, Boyd was officially placed on the 60.

That leaves Kervin Castro, Bret Auerbach, Camilo Doval and Arquimedes Gamboa as the only players under 25 in camp.
Average age of the guys left in camp is 28.9.
