Not thrilled with this move but I am happy its him over Jimmy

Hearing Collins will be cut to give us some cap room.

And If Wentz doesnt work out we can cut him after 2 seasons. So the gamble is worth it, we got to try something. We tried for Wilson and struck out

First off if he plays it’s a 2nd , we made a trade and we eat 28.3 mil of 33 mil in cap space for a bridge qb with an injury history, reckless play issues , and lack of leadership issues . The guy is at KC tier of qb play and you hated that . TMac and Gibby were 3rd round picks .

I hated KC wanted to be the highest paid QB in the league at the time. Forget the money. Wentz gives us the most upside out of any QB beside Rodgers or Wilson. Two third round picks are a small price to pay if Wentz does well. We had to take a shot at QB and we did it with Wentz. No issues at all with this move. We need a QB plain and simple.

Why do you think so?

It can't be trade cost b/c You upgraded at the QB position for a 3rd rd pick this year and a 3 or a 2 next year. That is less than what the Chiefs traded to SF to get Alex Smith (two #2s).

It can't really be his contract either. Sure, he costs 28M right now, but it's a year to year contract for the last 2 years. No dead cap money. And the QB market price is exploding upward, so it's not that bad a deal. Not to mention that an extension or even a reworked deal can drop his cap numbers, but I think the Commies will wait and see what they have in him this season before making that call.

So, if it's the player, fine. Wentz's production isn't bad at all. Particularly considering the poor pass blocking OL the Colts had last year. I know his knocks ahve always been about leadership and grating on teammates and even some reckless play issues. Even so, he's a clear upgrade over what you have. So what would you have traded for this upgrade? Is he worth a single 3rd? A single 2nd next year?

Its a great trade. We actually have a qb now and dont have to rely on a rookie or TH.

Poor decision making , reckless play , lack of leadership, grating on teammates spells trouble and drama .
We gave up resources for a KC type guy which most people here can’t stand

He isn’t a franchise guy and my general rule is I don’t give up resources and blow my cap up for bridge qbs that are drama queens

Time will tell on this trade.

1- 28 million seems like a lot but it is roughly half of what Rodgers is going to make. Wentz is also under contract for two more seasons after this one at roughly the same price.

2- Had TH thrown for 3500 yards, 27 TDs, and 7 picks, we would have been in the playoffs and fought for the division.

3- Wentz has been in the MVP discussion.

4- We didn’t give up much for the 7th rated QB in the NFL. If we have to give up a second in 2023, that means we have made the playoffs…twice in two years.
