Wentz played well last season ...except for a handful of games. Just sucked 1 of them was last game vs Jax.
Yeah, for having pretty much one receiver I thought he had a solid season.

Decent chance to be the best quarterback in the division, again.

Desperation, they were running out of opportunities knowing full well Seattle will draft a QB at 9. This will be another nightmare situation.

28 mil leaves us 5 mil in cap space . bye JD bye settle fuck you payne and tmac . bye ionman . bye resources to replace them bye collins
Dude, you gotta calm down.

McKissic is probably going nowhere. RBs are relatively cheap.

You don't really think the team will let their best WR in a decade get away do you?

And you're WAY too worried about losing your #3 players at DT and DE. Paying 3 DTs starter's money was unrealistic from day 1. Having said that, if the FO insists on keeping Ionman, then extending his deal will lower his 8.4M cap #. Same with Payne, but by extending Payne, you'll probably have to let Settle walk, or you could trade Payne and clear 8.5M in cap space, and keep Settle who'll only eat up half that much (if the deal is structured right).

Its a clear upgrade. I'll take it... "Wentz managed to finish the year with a 27-7 TD-INT ratio while placing ninth in league-wide QBR."

Washington now officially has the most mobile QB in the NFL...

In the last 5 to 6 years he's moved from Philadelphia to Indianapolis, to Washington!!:D
Philly hasn't even used their first round pick from Indy yet and he's already on his way to DC. Damn that was fast.

Wentz, TH, Rookie looks a lot better than Fitzy, TH, Rookie.

He also didn't cost a lot pick or player wise.

He also is not nearly the same player as Russ Wilson.

They still should draft a rookie qb in the first or second round, but it's not a terrible move.

Losing the probably second rounder next year will hurt though.

This is a mild positive move. One notch above "meh" but nothing to get the fan base excited about, in my opinion.

Ron Rivera is done for

The Athletic's Zak Keefer reports the Colts' issues with ex-QB Carson Wentz "stretched back to before the season began."

Keefer paints a picture of a quarterback who was basically never liked or respected from the second he showed up in Indianapolis. "Over the course of the year, some grew frustrated at what they deemed a lack of leadership, a resistance to hard coaching and a reckless style of play, which had a role in several close losses this year." Other than that Mrs. Lincoln? But there's more. "The quarterback, who learned he was on shaky ground with the organization over the last month, reached out to owner Jim Irsay in hopes of setting up a meeting to 'clear the air,' a source said. But Irsay declined the meeting." Yikes. These are the exact kind of things that were said about Wentz his final days in Philadelphia. He frankly sounds unpleasant to work with. It is impossible to see how this will work in the league's most dysfunctional organization in Washington. Best of luck, "Commanders" fans.

I like the move. Thank God we didn't get Grap! He was the best available and was plan B for this team. We dont have to worry about another team signing him in FA if the Colts released him. Not worried about the 3rd round picks. I know the 2nd one could be a 2nd but if it does most likely we will be in the playoffs. So, I will take that trade any day. Wentz if a huge upgrade over TH and I think we can go non QB at #11. The money part stings a little, but he is 29 and has upside. Plus, there is no future money to worry about if does poorly.

Im curious on what does the Colts, Stealers, and Saints do now.

Contracts can be reworked. Plus, cuts and restructures could be made. Not worried about it. Its the best option right now. IMO I rather have Wentz, than Grap, MM, and Trib. There is upside with this move.

How is it a bad trade? We have nothing!! We don't have to reply on a rookie QB. Wentz has upside. Are you really worried about the 3rd round picks?
First off if he plays it’s a 2nd , we made a trade and we eat 28.3 mil of 33 mil in cap space for a bridge qb with an injury history, reckless play issues , and lack of leadership issues . The guy is at KC tier of qb play and you hated that . TMac and Gibby were 3rd round picks .

Why do you think so?

It can't be trade cost b/c You upgraded at the QB position for a 3rd rd pick this year and a 3 or a 2 next year. That is less than what the Chiefs traded to SF to get Alex Smith (two #2s).

It can't really be his contract either. Sure, he costs 28M right now, but it's a year to year contract for the last 2 years. No dead cap money. And the QB market price is exploding upward, so it's not that bad a deal. Not to mention that an extension or even a reworked deal can drop his cap numbers, but I think the Commies will wait and see what they have in him this season before making that call.

So, if it's the player, fine. Wentz's production isn't bad at all. Particularly considering the poor pass blocking OL the Colts had last year. I know his knocks ahve always been about leadership and grating on teammates and even some reckless play issues. Even so, he's a clear upgrade over what you have. So what would you have traded for this upgrade? Is he worth a single 3rd? A single 2nd next year?
