Not so sure and it isn’t bc of Sexton…it’s Okoro. I think he can be a legit 3 and D guy. If we are talking Sexton, cap filler and 1st’s then I am fine with that but either way it match salaries it would have be a sign-and-trade in the offseason

Cavs have something nice going, with a young core. I wouldn't mess with it. Where ever Simmons lands it's gonna take good players & 1st round picks. I just think he's a gamble.

You watching the game in a little over an hour?

Along with multiple 1st rounders? Would have said yes before the season but now I'm not so sure.
Simmons is such a high risk high reward play.

He was one of the 3 best defenders in the NBA last year, is signed long term and is incredibly athletic and can make plays. Thing is- you need to put an awful lot of salary into that deal as well. That means Rubio or Love, etc....at some point you just kind of gut the team.

but a core of Garland, Mobley, Simmons, Allen is pretty intriguing.

I just dont know if its worth the risk considering how the Cavs are playing already. I dont know.

I gotta think the front office is not looking at this year as the most important- since this team is not going to peak for a long while yet.

I don't see this absolute need to call Simmons a PG.
I don’t think the best Ben Simmons should be just a PG or just a 3 or 4. The best aspect of him is the guard skills in a big man’s body. I would have played him at the 1, the 4, and the 5 in an ideal world. But right now dude doesn’t shoot. Is there a position in the NBA where you can hide a guy who doesn’t want to shoot? I guess that’s what makes him a defacto 1. That’s maybe the best place to hide him in the half court? I would hope that for Simmons sake he is spending this time away trying to reinvent his game and for him to find a way to impact games in the playoffs in the half court.

couldn't hear it all, but thought when asked coach said they wanted to get the TD (implying no faith in kicker). I can understand that, however, with 3 TOs would not preclude another run or 2. Did have a screen set up on one of them, I guess.
New kicker went into my math. The 25 yard line is a 42 yarder. His collegiate long was 48 yards. For me, I think that’s the better thing to play for than to lean on Mayfield to get 7 on a day when he clearly didn’t have it. But would add that Kevin Stefanski is with his team everyday and has earned the right to make these calls and I have not. Just a head scratcher for me. If the Browns possess one elite capacity in my mind it’s in their OL and their RBs.

I said this last week or the week before, but if I’m the Cavs I’m not looking to deal right now unless they can get a young piece from a contender for Rubio. They don’t have to sell out to contend. Their time is in the future. I would use the full year and a playoff appearance to assess exactly what they have before parting with any of their young pieces. Although, if it’s the case of the Sixers giving him away, maybe it doesn’t hurt if they can cajole the Sixers to take Love’s 30 million off the books

The hard part is what to do with Sexton?

As soon as these guys get their RFA contracts it becomes a lot harder to add talent around them.

Good point. If I’m Cavs im looking at Garland or Sexton and I think Garland is the better player. Sexton can be done in two ways - deal now and get something instead of overpaying him - or the one I would pick (because it ain’t my money ha!) is wait until Sexton is ready for his deal and do a sign and trade for another piece that helps the Cavs get above the cap and flirt with the luxury level. They’re small market but they’ve gone into the luxury level before.

Yeah that would be a dream but no way they take Love. Funny thing is Love has having a great season, obviously his price tag is still high but he is really has a perfect role on this team now. Other than that the Cavs would have a very tough time matching salaries. If Philly doesn’t deal Simmons by the deadline I might put CLE has Simmons #1 destination. They could do a sign-and-trade involving Sexton, picks in a multiple team trade. Keep this core, don’t change anything and see how it rolls this season

I have to wonder how much Garland would be impacted if Sexton were playing this year.

If the season ended today, we would get ravens/titans for the 3rd straight year
