You said all his old coaches say he doesn’t care about basketball.

That isn’t true.
Nope, you better read it again. You said he cares too much, I said no one besides you, including any coach he ever had, had ever said that.

SGA is not a free agent until 2027. He is going nowhere

I didn't say he was going anywhere.

Most players take their rookie extension because they go from being wealthy to having fuck you money with that rookie extension. SGA doesn't likely care what the OKC plan is right now because they just promised him 178 million dollars.

But if they keep tanking, his happiness in OKC will start to wane and in 3 or 4 years, he may have a change of heart.

Simmons has some mental problems and some pride problems. He cares a lot but not necessarily always about the right things. He cares that he is always is top physical shape. He cares that he is viewed as one of the best defenders in the league. He cares that he is viewed as one of the best distributors in the league. He cares that he would look bad throwing up bricks. So he refuses to do it.

But I think it is wrong to say that he doesn't care in general. Maybe he doesn't really care that much about winning titles. But, truth be told, I think there are a lot of players that really don't care about winning titles or at least put it behind personal achievements or life choices. Does Dame care about winning titles? Maybe, but clearly not as much as he cares about remaining in Portland. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Provide evidence of your claim then.

I am clearly speculating on what I think his problem is.

I agree with that. My point was he's not going anywhere soon so basically within the next 3 yrs or so

Lmao, you are the one that made a claim. Show me where a coach said he cares too much. I’m willing to bet no one besides you has ever made that statement.

Depends on the context. Cares about winning? Not as much as most high level players. Cares about how people view him? Way more than most high level players.

It isn’t so much the level of care Simmons has. It’s what he cares about. He is turned on to all the things that come with being a basketball star. He is focused on individual accolades which is the pathway to money and notoriety. He isn’t team oriented in what he cares about and if you look at singular actions to challenge that it’s just because it has overlap with an individual pursuit.

My initial comment was about SGA isn't going to care that the Thunder have a ton of draft picks in 2026. The Thunder aren't going to be able to just keep tanking year after year in hopes that they might hit.

IMO, they should be using their assets to build a team now. Presti is a smart GM. If I were a Thunder fan I would hope that he made it clear to Morey that they would be more than willing to be part of a multi team trade.

Say the Blazers decide they just need to blow it up. They may not want Simmons in that situation. But they MIGHT want a whole slew of draft picks. Thus a 3 team trade might make sense.

Two options oh some site, not sure how realistic:

76ers receive: Brandon Ingram, Lou Williams

Hawks receive: Ben Simmons, Garrett Temple

Pelicans receive: Cameron Reddish, Kevin Huerter, Danilo Gallinari, 2022 First-Round Pick (vis ATL), 2024 First-Round Pick (via PHI)

76ers receive: De’Aaron Fox, Gordon Hayward

Hornets receive: Ben Simmons, Danny Green

Kings receive: James Bouknight, Matisse Thybulle, Kai Jones, 2024 First-Round Pick (via PHI)

I will say, Simmons in Atlanta is a great fit

Not sure why the Hornets would want Simmons when they have LaMelo.

This is simple, he said Simmons problem was that he cares too much. I simply said that I would bet that he was the only person ever, including any coach Simmons ever had, that ever said that. That’s it.
