I laughed when Fells asked for his release. He must have gotten wind that Wright was coming up and knew he would be benched if not waived.

or maybe he wants a chance to be on a winning SB team - He signed with TB 12's team yesterday - initially he'll be on the practice squad prior to being placed on active roster

He has to be better then the dung we are putting out there now.
IDK, the only area he has anything going for him is having played on the same team as Goff.

There were 3 writers who broke down what he has to offer and none were all that hopeful.

Raymond was outrunning Hayden by 4.7 feet per second when Goff missed him.

199 rush yards. 11 pass

I wish they'd put in Blough. At least I wouldn't be watching a QB they're paying several million dollars to suck.

I hope they keep him in because I want him back next year. Rather go into year 2 of rebuild in desperate need of a qb over still desperate need, but we reached for a bad qb in the 1st.

Pittsburgh should be ashamed of themselves.

And Detroit had better not use that giant kicker ever again. Never, ever.

I get that they don't want to waste any money on this season, but there are probably guys better than him that would do it for free.

Although Raymond is short, he's the only WR who has the speed to stretch the defense - not that it matters since Goff only has the arm strength to throw it within 12 yards of the L.O.S.
He had Raynond 2-3 steps clear on a called deep pass. Should have been picked, he underthrew it by several yards.

If we had our starting kicker and backup QB in then we would have won this easy. I am also thoroughly unimpressed with our D-Line. The rookies will get better. The vets are not worth holding on to.

On the bright side our secondary looked much improved. Some of the young guys are playing better and Marlow is 100 times better than Harris.

If we had kept Stafford and Golladay I actually think this team could have been right in the mix for the last playoff spot. As far away as this team currently is, they aren't that far away.... if that makes any sense.

If they had an above average QB and an NFL average WR corps, with the depth, the gameplans and the effort this team has shown they could be right around .500. Probably still on the outside looking in, and definitely one and done if they made the playoffs. But closer than they've been a lot ofbother seasons.

If in the next 2 drafts (with the Stafford trade acting as the barometer, they still don't expect to actually compete nextvyear) if they can get a QB of the future, a stud #1 and ok #2 WR (or 2 good interchangeable types) and add one or two difference makers on defense. With 4 first round picks and at least 1 high second round pick they probably have to hit on at least their high draft picks and hopefully get contribution from at least 1-2 other picks in each draft. But 2 years from now we might be in a position to see this parity that all the other teams talk about.

Yeah that tie has got me feeling all optimistic of someday only barely missing the playoffs.

I didn't get to see the game but did get to hear it when the radio station switched to the game in OT. At first they were rooting for the Lions to win and then turned on them... in thinking it would be funny for another close game just to see if Campbell would "cry" again for a loss against the Steelers.

From what I saw on Red Zone the Lions D stepped up. This was an 0-8 team that went into Pittsburgh and came away with a tie. Seems a lot of people will be talking about how poorly the Steelers played vs how well the Lions played. My wife and I were hoping foe the W they should have won IMO.

Swift seems like a decent back, not sure why Hockenson isn't or wasn't targeted more is he injured? Looks like WR will be a draft need???

We need at least 2 playmakers on each side. A QB and WR on offense and a LB or DB and DL on defense. Our RBs and O-line are pretty good but we need another backup inside guy. I think next year we will at least be competitive if we have a different QB but you are probably correct we are 2 years away from thinking about playoffs.

I'm not so sure Blough or even Boyle when he gets healthy would or could be any better with the WR corps this team has. Either of those two might be able to throw beyond 12 yards past the LOS but none of these receivers are winning consistently on routes run. Maybe a scheme defect and play calling but those receivers still have some fault coming their way.

As much as Goff sucks, do you want the Lions to pull a 2020 Jets move and lose out on the No. 1 overall pick ? It's more than likely going to be Thibodeaux as it stands right now outside of some catastrophic injury.

BTW, I'm not for losing. but if it happens naturally then so be it.

Lions entered the season with the understanding they had the worst WR in the league by a large margin, and then they still got crushed by injuries. St.Brown is the only guy that I think has a chance to be on the team long term.
