He'll get a leash if Madrigal doesn't pan out for the Cubs.
Madrigal may never become any kind of superstar, but there's virtually no doubt that he'll go on to have a productive career. Hahn got robbed in this trade and we're not even factoring in Cody Heuer as well.

While I like him, I too agree giving him a lot of money would be a mistake. Let's avoid a Danks moment with Rodon.
We obviously have to wait and see how Rodon progresses in the next couple of weeks regarding whether or not he'll need surgery. If his arm is fine and all he needs is rest, I can see the Sox tendering a QO, but not a long term contract at all. The advantage of the QO is even tho it's not cheap - $18.4m for next year - it might be too tempting for Rodon to reject it. I just don't see any team offering him a huge package, which he might have otherwise received had he pitched the entire year without injuries. Just too much risk. But if he does bolt, at least we snag an extra draft pick out of the deal.

I ain't payin' for no goddamn Cub rookie card. I'll take it for free...if you pay shipping. Then let my kid do the bicycle tire trick with it.
How dare you sir! I actually never sell. To be fair, he was on the Sox still when I sent the raw card to the grading service.

hgr? how does that card rate a 9.5 for centering? there's no border to tell. tops and sides look pretty damn good to me. if you ask me ... and you didn't ... grading isn't what it used to be. it's now about keep pops down to make their ten's more valuable. that and standards are wacked! you really want to depend a 'grader' didn't have a bad night the day before to tell you wat he thinks your card is worth?
no more for me.

HGA uses computer imaging and then human grading. They don’t issue many 10s based on what I’ve seen.

Attention Jerry:

reinsdork will not be pushed around by sports mockery or any other people interested in making the sox a legit contender.

If the Sox don't make any bold moves such as the ones stated in the article, then I'll be more than happy to give you 100% kudos. But for now I'm holding out strong hope that they will take some kind of action and dramatic at that.

lol I can see pieces like this harden his determination to stand pat or bring in a Keuchel-quality player

What is the likelihood that the new CBA that needs to be negotiated won't delay spring training? LOL - yeah - that's what I thought too. We are likely to see the start of the regular season in May - again - because of pricks on both sides.

I tear up at the possibility of just how right you might end up being.

In hindsight yes this is correct, but I admit I liked the trade when it went down. I overestimated Hernandez, turns out he's pretty meh,

It would be tremendous if he took the QO...another short risk deal for the Sox, another prove it year for Rodon.

i SO hope you're wrong about rodon! he does not nearly deserve to be in the top 15 salary bracket. i don't care HOW good he can look at times. does track record mean anything to you? the guy is made of glass and i'd look elsewhere for much less money than 18+mil.
