Everyone likely has. Putting them in writing is inadvisable, and doing so via the internet is even worse. You can't expect to get away with comments like that that become public in today's day and age, especially if you're a public figure. Everyone has the right to their opinion and can say whatever they want, but your employer doesn't have to keep you around if you do.

I fully agree. I'm not sold Gruden deserved to lose his job, but the things tolerated in the past are no longer done. You are responsible for your actions right, wrong, or indifferent.

I lost count of my bad decisions a long time ago and yeah, I have said amd continue to say and do dumb shit. I'm not going to judge Gruden on what these emails said. But he's still a dumbass for saying it and a crappy NFL coach and he's obnoxious as hell to listen to on TV so I'm glad he will be gone from football.

If it was just the one email with the lips he might have survived it. But when it became clear that such remarks were not unusual for Gruden, and that he had said a lot of politically incorrect things about, well...almost everyone, from women to gays to blacks, he was toast.

No, I am not perfect either, and I am sure that if someone subpoenaed decades of emails from me they might find some stuff that could be used against me. But I am also not a public figure. Gruden maybe let his guard down because he was working for MNF at the time and out of coaching, but you gotta know not to put some of this shit in writing if you are a high profile person.

Again, my criticism of this situation is more about...what else does the NFL have? They clearly have a trove of very damaging emails involving the WFT. Why are they only releasing the stuff that tars Gruden? That smells like a cover up to me.

My guess as to why they won't release all the emails is this: they want to "protect the shield." Jon Gruden is expendable. A trove of emails showing that an NFL team was possibly corrupt to its core might raise deeper questions about the league and its integrity.

I really think the reason the emails were leaked is because of the Goodell comments. If Gruden never called Goodell a fag, this is all still in the vault.

These were from 10 and 11 years ago when he was a commentator, not a coach. He was just a private citizen commenting to some would be buddy. People have the right to be gay, trans, queer, whatever they want, but just "normal" god fearing human beings do not have any rights.

that is really what it boils down to, if you are with the crowd, its ok to speak your mind, spit at cops, throw shit at cops, but when you call them you expect them to respond.
