I think Clutch is overplaying their hand. The Sixers and the NBA are going to have no choice but to play hardball.

I'm not even sure how much of it is Klutch at this point. This seems deeply personal between the Sixers and Ben. My guess would be that Klutch wants this shit over with and Ben on a new team asap. It's probably taking up a bunch of their time and not making them any additional money.

There is almost no chance that it wouldn't. The CBA is pretty explicit about it. Teams rarely go down that path because it causes a lot of bad blood. But, again, Simmons has torched those bridges pretty clearly, has 4 years left on his contract, and is getting crushed in the public opinion arena.

Where does it say you can suspend a player for slacking off?

We aren't dealing Harris and Simmons together. That makes no sense. You are talking 60+ million in salary that would need to be matched. Trading Harris for Wall and Christian Wood would be such a terrible trade that Morey should be fired on the spot.
You don’t have to worry about it because the Rockets wouldn’t do that. I’m saying the only way I’d take on Harris is if they can get an up and comer like Wood for Ben and a swap of bad deals in Harris and Wall. Wall’s bad contract plus Wood is better than Ben for Wall’s bad contract.

Harris' contract is nowhere NEAR as bad as John Wall's. Harris is an over priced productive player. The guy was a borderline all-star. John Wall is an even more expensive washed player who hasn't had a productive season in 5 years. It is easily the worst contract in the NBA.

The Rockets would make that trade in a heart beat. Hell I'm not sure the NBA would even allow that trade.

The NBA needs to crack down on this crap...and soon.
I know it's players league, but you can't keep letting the inmates run the entire asylum.
Seems it's been occurring every year for the last 4 or 5 if not more, and becoming commonplace unfortunately.
Players have to be held accountable when they refuse to honor their contracts...and in some cases teams do too.
There are so many good players out there who would jump through fire hoops just to get a chance to be in the NBA, and play for a fraction of the money of what most of these guys get nowadays.

Section 12. On-Court conduct.

But really, they would probably just sit him in street clothes and make him come to the games.

Well certainly Simmons is part of the problem. But Klutch has been pushing the boundaries for a few years. Given that they, briefly, tried to bring Tyrese Maxey into this crap before they realize that they were going too far, I have a hard time not seeing Rich Paul's fingerprints all over this.

I'm sure they want this over with as soon as possible. Because that would be viewed as a huge win for them. But, at some point, the league is going to get tired of their shit. Maybe this won't be the time and the Sixers will cave because they won't want the distraction. But unless they can get a package from a team that, at the very least, keeps them at the same level this season, what is the upside?

Seriously, why in the world would they trade for John Wall, for example? He can't shoot and isn't nearly as explosive as he was a few years ago. The Sixers would be trading for a more expensive less capable and considerably older player. It makes no sense.

Nothing remotely specific enough.

And trying to have an arbiter determine the mindset of Simmons.

Good luck.

I’d call it a long shot. But not impossible

I don't see what Klutch has to gain. It's not over a contract dispute, so they aren't making themselves or Ben any more money. Unless there's something that hasn't been leaked yet, he's not trying to force his way to a specific team.

He just doesn't want to play for the Sixers ever again.

I think this is personal because of what happened after the playoffs. Embiid throwing him under the bus was one thing, but Doc doing do it and no one from within the organization (at least that I've heard) has come out and defended him.

Saying what was said and the organization not backing him has nothing to do with Klutch...that's on the Sixers.

All they have to do if he shows up is tell him to shoot 500 free throws a day at practice. When he won’t do it boom you are suspended.

Oh I agree that Simmons is the one that wants out and initiated it. But I think it is Klutch that is doing all the leaking to push the issue.

Honestly what Klutch SHOULD be doing is talking some sense in Simmons. He set an NBA record for worst free throw % in the playoffs, minimum 50 attempts. And rather than take ANY ownership of that, he's having a public hissy fit. How does he think that will improve his image or his situation?

Simmons is justified, they had the audacity to rightly call out his short comings after he made no effort to correct amything his entire career.

That's why I don't think Klutch is behind this. Klutch is definitely full of themselves, have more power than they probably should and aren't above trying to bully a team into doing what they want, even if it gets a little ugly...but they aren't stupid. They know that the longer this drags out, the worse Ben looks.

They may very well be trying to talk sense into him, but he's not listening.

I'm not saying it's not them, I just don't see what they have to gain from it if they are behind it.

Well if they succeed then they become the agency that literally can do whatever they want. They aren't going to have Lebron forever so they will need new reasons to go to Klutch. If they lose the Noel lawsuit that is going to sting pretty hard.

If anyone is expecting Ruch Paul to do anything to help the situation at all they are wasting their time. The league has created so many monsters with stuff like this it’s unreal. Adam Silver is a giant pussy.
