Yes, it seems he could have shown up and half assed it like Harden, but chose not to show up at all. I am not sure that strategy will work better.

The big difference between Harden and Simmons is that Harden had a lot of suitors and knew he could force a deal. I think Simmons is playing with fire, because he has sabotaged whatever trade value he might have had, which was already low, and now Philly can just make him sit. It's not like the fan base will be upset if he rots on the bench at this point.

The unfortunate consequence of course is that Embiid's prime will be wasted, but frankly we are already at that point if we are being honest. The Process failed.

None of them help Philly.

If you can get a couple firsts to make your own Holliday type trade and some guys who better with embiid, might as well do that

I feel like we say this with every star player that demands a trade and doesn't want to play for the organization (not saying Ben is a star)...the organization has the upper hand and they can just sit him. It really does no good and in the end you don't want a guy sitting on your bench that doesn't want to be there. He will be traded and likely have to settle for less or just have to alter their expectations and maybe take more picks and less players, etc. This seems to always backfire on the organization more than the player...which sucks, it really does. But I will say they did overplay their hand for a long time and valued him way too high which isn't wrong but the way it played out it can definitely hurt them. Not saying they will get dealt with shit trade value but they will just need to alter their expectations. He won't be on the roster when season comes rolling around, well I will be very surprised if he is on the roster.

Good luck with that if hes showing up

The nbpa will fight that

It will be a thing

And having him show up and half ass it like harden went help either.

Fight what? He's under contract. He is explicitly violating his contract. There is no stipulation in the CBA that says "If you no longer like playing for your team, you can request to be traded with no punishment"

Simmons has completely burned the bridge down to the ground. If he decides to no show or pull a Harden they will just suspend him.

If he wants to give up 30+ million dollars, that's his choice.

Simmons has no leverage. Let the Bitch rot. Ben Simmons would never pull a Harden because Ben Simmons is a coward. He isn’t going to show up daily and have to look people in the eye. Dude lives in a bubble that’s been created for him where everyone sucks his dick and says he’s the greatest. He’s been in that bubble since he was a teenager. If Ben Simmons has a chance to become the player he has the potential to be getting cucked is the best way for that to happen. Kid needs to be taken down like 8 pegs.

Again. If shows up and half asses it he’s still fulfilling his contract

They’d have nothing

And why would the Sixers have to give him minutes?

But the whole point is that he's not showing up! That would require...balls that Simmons doesn't have.

Exactly. He’s a 6’10’’ gaping vagina. If a man makes this play he’s Butler or Harden. They show up everyday and ball out with constant reminders of boy did you fuck up fucking with me. Ben Simmons isn’t a man.

Harden might as well has been on the court in his pajamas…

The big difference here is the number of years that Simmons has left on his contract. He has 4 years still. I can't think of a situation similar to this.

The amusing rumor picking up steam is Simmons to the Rockets for Wall and picks. I would only do it if we could then somehow offload Wall on somebody.

I’d be open to it if they took Harris bad contract in the deal and gave the Sixers Christian Wood. If that’s not on the table, I’d rather take the Hield/Halliburton deal or the Wiggins Wiseman deal. Shit, I hate the Wall contract so much I’d actually take the Love deal or the Russell deal over that and I’ve been openly critical of both of those potential deals. Fuck the Rockets unless they want to pay a price for making them take the Wall deal.

The Rockets could have suspended Harden. They chose not to because they weren't going anywhere anyway.

The Sixers will suspend Simmons. And if he thinks the press and fans were harsh on him now, just wait till he does that nonsense.

No chance that would hold up if he shows up.

We aren't dealing Harris and Simmons together. That makes no sense. You are talking 60+ million in salary that would need to be matched. Trading Harris for Wall and Christian Wood would be such a terrible trade that Morey should be fired on the spot.

There is almost no chance that it wouldn't. The CBA is pretty explicit about it. Teams rarely go down that path because it causes a lot of bad blood. But, again, Simmons has torched those bridges pretty clearly, has 4 years left on his contract, and is getting crushed in the public opinion arena.
