Sounds like he wants to stay.

KNBR has been playing those bites all morning.

I loved when he basically said Boras is his employee and will do what he wants.

At this point, I would put it at about 75% he returns. He is still young, so I would be fine with a long contract (5 years-ish)

Does 5/125 get it done?

Jon Heyman is reporting the Giants intend keep Posey next year and may try to work out a multi year deal like Crawfords.

I can see a 2/40 for Posey. Maybe 2/38…

I doubt Posey WANTS a longer contract than that. I suspect he wants to retire soon.

I see it as the same with Crawford to bridge the gap to Luciano. It gives Buster a year or two with Bart to get him up to speed. Something Bart could have really used last year when Buster opted out.

No way. He's got to be more like a $200M player.

With universal DH coming, I could see a three year deal for Buster

I guess the question then would be, is that the way Buster wants to go out? Maybe, maybe not. He is a team guy first so maybe.

7/200?

that gets uncomfortable, but you may be right. That would bring him through his age 36 season, so that isn’t too outrageous.

It will all depend on what is really important to him. If you remember the Bryce Harper negotiations it all came down to money. Boras played us and the Phils for quite some time before he settled on a contract. I can't blame Harper .... but it all came down to money. A large amount of money. I expect the same here.

I like Bryant more than Harper, but I don’t think Bryant brings the same cache that Harper had, so I doubt he will cost as much as Harper. I also believe we used purely to drive up Philly’s bid, as that was where he wanted to land. It APPEARS that Bryant wants to stay here. So I suspect he will use other teams to drive up the Giants bid.

Craw and Posey are different cases. They ARE Giants, and will (did, in Craw’s case)likely give a slight discount to finish in SF. I only suspect Bryant to pick SF at the same value as someone else (maybe a SLIGHT discount, but not much).

But if Bryant were really looking to squeeze every dollar out of the Giants, making it look like he really really wants to be here isn’t the best negotiating ploy.
