This Rangers team is full of placeholders right now. Their replacements' footsteps are getting louder and louder now that a lot of them are at AA and AAA, and several others are knocking on the door to go up to AA.

To me, the time is right to go after top free agents during the next couple of offseasons. I think they need to look at the next two free agent classes and formulate a plan to go after some of the top free agents hitters and hopefully land a couple of them, maybe one each year. Which ones? I think, like in the draft, you go after the best available, regardless of position. The one exception being, once you sign the first free agent, you don't sign another one at that same position.

it’s getting exciting

Any idea when Foscue gets moved up to AA??
He’s definitely ready

given how out of control the FA market has become, I would like the Rangers to play it smart. Signing the top available FA means overspending, and if they're going to do that, they need to do it on a guy that will provide the maximum ROI.

still think we should pursue Story & Syndergaard for sure. and then depending on if we decide to trade Lowe and Guzman go after Canhi on a short term deal or go with Terry at 1st

With the amount of talent we have coming up and the huge amount of money to spend I would really hope we go after a few top guys.
Wouldn’t mind Story one bit.
Syndergaard would be nice too.
Hopefully both of them having a down (for them) year will result in a decently fair deal? Lol
Both are young with plenty of upside too.
I would like to get a corner outfielder too.
Just 3 players is all I’m asking for lol
I would like Michael Conforto, he too is very young and coming off a down year with a great track record previously

Agreed. They need to look at all of the factors. Then once they decide who the best investments are, they need to go into hot pursuit mode.

Not sure. Josh Smith seemed to indicate that he was told he would only be in Hickory for a few weeks. I would imagine him and Foscue are on similar timetables.

For those of you in the Correa camp. Story has looked terrible defensively this year from what I have heard

“The thing is, it’s not just the Rangers saying this. The prospect-ranking complex is starting to agree. The Rangers may not have a Wander Franco to make scouts drool, but the talent floor has been significantly raised. According to Fangraphs, the Rangers now have 69 legitimate prospects in their system, the most of any organization.”

I would consider FA outfielders and pitchers, but the IF seems to be pretty set for the future, we will have a ton of SS/2B guys knocking at the door, Jung at 3B and maybe Huff at 1B (I don't think he sticks at C)

During the course of next year you can start bundling and trading some of this depth for better players too

Canha is not very good imo, not sure what the infatuation is?
Story's home road splits are troubling, not to mention our system has tons of those types 1-2 years away that would be blocked by Story
But I do prefer story over Correa
