Offense is the biggest need for this organization both at the big league level and at the minor league level. If we make trades, getting quality offensive prospects back is very important. When we begin to spend heavily in free agency, offense needs to be the primary focus.
Can not agree more.

The record and the play of late, of the big league club looks dismal. Don't let that get you down though. There are reinforcements on the way. Even our worse than expected record is good in that we will be able to draft close to the top next year. Right now there are at least 4 or 5 really good possibilities to select from in next year's draft.

There have been some disappointing injuries to some of our prospects this season, but inspire of that there have been a lot of good performances. Our minor league clubs combined to score 52 runs last night. Several players have put up good numbers this season.

If I remember correctly, the Rangers were predicted to be one of the worst teams in the league this year, but even with that, they've been disappointing.

Story. Our infield is terrible, offensive-wise

BORAS isn’t the problem. They locked up Andrus who was represented by BORAS.

BORAS gets the most for his clients because people pay it.

If they can’t extend him then the most they can hope for is a trade with a team who will be able to extend him otherwise he’s a 1 and a 1/2 year rental and the return won’t be that good but better than holding onto him next year and him being a 1/2 year rental.

The problem is that it's BORAS in a time where FA contracts have gone apeshit. We've shot past the $30m/year and have hit $40m/year AAV's.

Boras is part of the problem. His clients rarely resign with the team they are currently on. Elvis was the exception. He's going to ask for top dollar. The Rangers have shown they are not willing to pay too dollar for anybody. They Rangers always trade players a year to late.

"Per local and national media, Texas has signed 3rd-round IF Cam Cauley and 4th-round catcher Ian Moller. Both signed above slot, and along with 5th-rounder Mich Bratt have eaten up nearly all of the slot money saved on the relatively tiny bonuses accepted by picks 6, 7, 9 and 10. Unsigned in the top ten rounds are RHP Jack Leiter (1), OF Aaron Zavala (2), and LHP Larson Kindreich (8). By my count, Texas has about $10.6 million to spend on them, and any amounts over $125,000 for picks 11-20 also apply to that total. That $10.6 equals the total slot allotment plus 5% (on which Texas would have to pay a tax but would not forfeit a future pick) minus bonuses paid to date." - Scott Lucas

Xander Bogaerts and Jose Altulve are two examples of Boras clients who fairly recently signed extensions with their current clubs.

This morning Jamey Newberg published an article with The Athletic where he discusses possible Rangers trades with two potential suitors from the Blue Jays and the Braves. He discussed back and forth with a media representative from each team to try to reach agreements with them. The bottom line is that he never came to an agreement with either of them. Considered for trade was Kennedy, Gibson and Gallo, eithter separately or as some combination of tow or all three of them.

Here are Jamey"s initial proposals.

  • David, to make a deal with the Braves, I would propose one of two deals:
    1. Joey Gallo, Ian Kennedy and your choice of three prospects to help push things over the top — outfielder J.P. Martinez (whom they paid $2.8 million of the international budget they’d set aside for Shohei Ohtani in 2018) or one of two versatile infielders, Ryan Dorow and Yonny Hernandez — for Cristian Pache, Kyle Wright, Kyle Muller and Class-A outfielder Michael Harris.
    2. Kennedy and one of Martinez/Dorow/Hernandez for Wright and Harris — a 2021 version of the Chris Martin for Kolby Allard deal two summers ago that seems to have worked out well for both the Rangers and Braves.
  • Kaitlyn, as for the Blue Jays, I have three proposals for you:
    1. Gallo, Kyle Gibson and Kennedy for Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Simeon Woods Richardson, Orelvis Martinez and Alejandro Kirk.
    2. Gibson, Kennedy and Triple-A infielder Charles Leblanc (a Quebec native) for Woods Richardson and either Gurriel or Martinez.
    3. Gibson and Leblanc for Woods Richardson and Kirk.
