He did beat out a broken down Cam Newton but was never given an opportunity. His one game was against the Chiefs and hoyer put him up against the wall. That and the team sucked around him. This is where BB's ego got the best of him or his adoration for a QB that everyone in world could see was out of his depth.

AND we're getting right back to the 'bend down and kiss Bill's ass' mentality. One of the four QBs will be gone by September. Ain't gonna be Mac. Hoyer is the solid practice QB who will be the opposing QB. That leaves Cam and Stid. Mac will need a back up if he takes over and Bill will want Cam's experience and not Stidham's arm. It's Catch 22. Bill will not allow Stidham to become successful and end up embarrassing him.

What's 'Best for the Team' is pure bullshit. It's what Bill thinks is best for him and his legacy.

Sorry guys, I'm taking off the Red, White and Blue glasses and putting on my prescription eyewear. Cam cannot play at the level required. Mac is a rookie and needs some grooming. Stid has three years of experience and knows the system and has the tools. Hoyer is fodder. The real competition should be between Mac and Stid. It'll never happen.

If that's true and Stidham was the better QB last year than Bill would have played Stidham. Do you think going 7-9 is what's best for Coach Bill's legacy? Has anyone heard a peep from any anonymous player or coach stating Stidham practiced better than Cam last year???? There would certainly be something said by someone if Stidham was out performing Cam. Believe me, I wished he did. I loathe Cam as our starting QB. But unfortunately Stidham isn't very good or he would be playing and we wouldn't have drafted Mac Jones in the 1st round.

How does BB wanting everyone competing make him an ego maniac? I agree with the dictator part, but by definition head coach = dictator. To him, any player allowed to not give their all undermines the ability to demand everyone else gives their all. This rubbed players the wrong way in 2000 when he required starters to take shifts on special teams. In short order the overall team performance and the special teams "phase of the game" became a difference maker.

Man, you seem to really think Bill is a piece of crap.

I take Bill at his word that he is always doing what he thinks is in the best interest of the team.

Just because Stidham threw a few decent passes during a non-contact practice in is third year on the team doesn' make him a good QB. He's supposed to do that shit all the time.

Cam can't do it and never could, yet he's the starter.

Sorry, I'm not in the Bill Belichick Adoration Society anymore. I don't think he's a piece of crap. I do think he's a defensive genius but isn't equal to that on offense. In my opinion, he should never have resigned Cam.

The fact that Cam could not throw a pass to save his life in 2020 didn't matter spit. He was BB's boy and Stidham knew he wasn't getting a fair shot and it effected his practice and attitude. Has nothing to do with maturity, it has to do with knowing that you have more tools in your box and knowing that you can use them much more effectively than the other guy.

It's not going to change until he can get out of here. It's Cam and Mac going forward.

His ego won't allow him to make a corresponding move which makes his initial decision look bad or undecisive. It is what it is. I liked the benching of Butler. Many didn't. Even when the D was struggling he wouldn't put Butler in the game is a prime example.
