So don't have a rule. Should players should be allowed to shoot at the 25 second mark even though the shot clock is 24?

That is different.

We are talking about a free throw.

Karl Malone used to take about 13 seconds to shoot his. This rule has nothing to do with the flow of play and it has been very loosely enforced for my entire life watching the game.

Then get rid of it.

Maybe they will.

I have never heard anyone complain about this. It has no impact on the game. Complaining about this violation not getting called is just sour grapes.

That was quick.

Miami is in that weird REBUILD or RELOAD choice yet again.

It is in a weird spot that makes it tough to be a GM.

They're not rebuilding lol. They have Jimmy in his prime. You don't reload after this weird ass season. Miami had one of the best records in the east over the last 50 games. Changes will be made but a rebuild isn't happening.

If Jimmy doesn't get covid then Miami is a 4 seed and probably win a round. This may be a blessing in disguise.

I was sarcastic partially lol. Hard to root for them.

I would prefer to see Milwaukee in the finals. Basically whoever win the Nets/Bucks series is who I would like to see in the finals.

Well there was no way you would be rooting for the Sixers. LOL

Can the other team put up a 10 second clock in their home arena and have an air horn go off if the 10 seconds is up?
If nobody cares about the rule, but they have called it, how far is a team willing to go to have some fun with it?

It makes it look like the NBA just picks and chooses what rules to apply and when. It's part of the reason some still think the games are rigged.
Well that is exactly what the league does, Silver isn’t even trying to hide it.

This isn’t a David Silver thing.

LOL.

You guys are acting like the NBA is the only league where refs don’t count 10 seconds on FTs.

I have watched basketball all my life and I have seen a 10 second FT violation maybe twice.

Sure it does.

Most players, especially ones that used to be bad free throw shooters, develop a "routine" that they go through to get in rhythm before shooting the free throw. If it takes him more than 10 seconds to be ready to shoot the ball and he's allowed to go through his whole routine, he's more likely to make the shot. 2 or 3 makes that may otherwise have been misses, can impact a close game pretty significantly.

Probably because most players take less than 10 seconds to shoot a free throw.

BS.

If the rule was enforced, his routine would be less than 10 seconds. He has a long routine because the violation isn’t called.

And if he practiced with a routine under 10 seconds he would be just fine. Might even help him shoot better with less time to think.

Enforce it or not, just be consistent. The officials consistently don’t count 10 seconds on FTs.
