Different eras are different eras enjoy the greatness of an era because none are alike. Athletes today have such superior training regiments and advancements in medicine to help make them better. In some cases early on guys even great players had to get a job in the off-season because the pay for players was minimal and that added money makes a huge difference in ability to preform. I haven't even gotten into rule changes that have made the game safer but also easier to score.
