I would like to see a Shelby Harris deal get done before the start of the legal tampering period starting, but at this point I am not sure that is going to occur.

He's 30 years old. Denver will look to pay him $6M ish. I bet he checks out FA and returns to Denver just like last year.

And that is fair. With letting Casey go our depth gets a bit thin. Respect Shelby exploring his option, and I think the Broncos have a dollar figure in mind, and if he gets more then that, good for him. I get the feeling Paton has more contingency plans then Elway did.

Shelby back on a 3 year $27 million deal.

That is a couple million per year higher then I expected.

Nice to see Booker get a 2 year deal from the Giants. He had a good year last year and it gets him away from the Raiders... He made himself some money at least.

Congrats to Booker - who has always been better than people think he is.

What do you think about Kevin King?

Not a big fan... Very shaky in deep coverage. He can tackle ok, he isn't awful... But you saw his struggles against the Buccaneers. Not my least favorite CB, but wasn't really pleased with his play this year.

The following Broncos were not extended tenders and are now unrestricted free agents-

Jake Butt
Troy Fumagalli :(
Kevin Toliver
Austin Calitro

I was hoping Fumagalli would be back (doesn't mean he won't be I suppose)

Butt is probably about done. His work ethic is incredible but he just isn't offering us much... Glad he hung around this long and had his opportunity here. Toliver tore up his knee at the end of the season. Would be hard for him to make the squad this year. Calitro offered us NOTHING. He was one of the first players I would have cut off the Elway roster. He came here to play special teams and he made ZERO impact at that. He seemed like an Elway "pet" to me, someone he always wanted and finally got his hands on. Toliver played under Fangio in Chicago, but we have two CB's with knee injuries to clean up (Dawson and Toliver).. This gives Toliver and opportunity to get into someone elses camp as it looks like we are looking to add a few new CB's and have a lot of Kevin Toliver's on the roster already.

How's this for a pass rush?

Von Miller - D. Jones - Shelby Harris - Chubb (moved to DE on occasion) - Malik Reed

Should there be a balance between offense and defense on special teams? I saw a note written by Nick Kosmider of the Athletic indicating with the signing of Mike Boone the Broncos were trying to get some balance back into the special teams between offense and defensive players. Last year the top 7 tacklers for the special teams were all defensive guys.

I've never given this a thought and I'm not sure it makes a difference except special teams guys are generally the back up to the regular rotation guys on offense or defense - does it put to much pressure on one side of the equation to be lopsided on Special Teams?

Phillip Lindsay will be playing elsewhere next year. We kind of figured that in the past few days though.
