Now that we have seen the price for Stafford, what does everyone think Watson will cost? Way more than Stafford, that is for sure.

Not worth the price.

Of course but the Rams did get out of Goff's contract. Still a huge win for the Lions. I wonder if we offered on 1 and 3 to the Lions. The Rams got crazy and beat us out. that's ok there was not way we would match that offer.

Supposedly the washington offer was better, deano. There was a tweet on about it on the main page from a gm or something.

Must not have been better to the lions. My guess they offered 19 and heiny or K Allen.

I read ours was a better offer because they see Goff as a negative in the deal because of the contract...at least that is how I interpreted it.

If so, Stafford must have nixed it. I'm sure he has that in his contract.

What was our offer ?

  • The Washington Football Team had an aggressive offer for Matthew Stafford before he was traded to the Rams.

The Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala said the Football Team's offer for Stafford "was better for the Lions this year than what the Rams offered." The Rams landed Stafford on Saturday in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick, a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and Jared Goff. Apparently Washington's offer for Stafford wasn't as loaded on the back end, but may have included a bigger draft pick haul for this year. It's noteworthy that the Football Team made an aggressive push for Stafford -- they're clearly not committed to heading into the 2021 season with Alex Smith as the team's unquestioned starter. It makes sense: there's a real argument that, by season's end, Taylor Heinicke was Washington's best QB option by a long shot. Ron Rivera's team could be a dark horse to sell out in pursuit of Deshaun Watson in the coming months. Washington could also land a free agent signal caller. Unrestricted free agent QBs this offseason include Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cam Newton, Tyrod Taylor, and Mitchell Trubisky.

what was that offer?

we had a better offer this year. Our 1 and 2 3's im guessing. Detroit is only getting a 3rd rounder this year plus they have to take on GOffs contract.

That's where I stopped because the writer really didn't know.

I don't know what the WFT offer was, which seems to indicate (based on previous posts) that the WFT was offering more this year in draft picks.

I wouldn't take that deal if I was the Lions either. Future #1's for a team that can't improve their team very much becuase they don't have a number 1 this year, or the year after, or the year after that, is a smarter play.

Good for the Lions. They made out like gangbusters, and even if Goff is a significant step down from Stafford, he isn't as terrible a qb as the starting qb's on 1/3 of the teams in the NFL, including the WFT.

This is a little old but im guessing it didn't get any better this year. In a PA heavy offense he was struggling off the PA. Provided the Lions don't focus on that (the Rams use it more than anyone) he may be in store for a bump in stats

Look Goff has been to a super bowl is a 2X Pb qb, and he won 10 games last season . What more does he have to do unless this is ABG syndrome

He throws quite a few picks comparatively. But yea I think talk of releasing him and what not is just piling on. He will be the Lions qb unless they move him on day one
