I find it funny that people still make statements like this despite all of the things that "couldn't happen" that have happened anyway.

Remember when Lebron was never returning to Cleveland?
there were rumors about him possibly returning to Cleveland after his 2nd year in Miami

Remember when the Warriors couldn't possibly get KD?
I dont remember anyone saying the Warriors couldnt get KD- they had the cap space- what would have prevented ?
Remember when Lebron was never going to go to the Lakers? Or when he went, but only because he didn't care about winning titles anymore?
I didnt think LEBron would go to the Lakers alone---- and he did- but really the plan was always for his agent to force a DAvis trade- which didnt happen with the stubborn Demps (which i am sure they didnt expect), but certainly happened with his successor.
Remember when Miami was years away from being able to improve their team in any significant way?
Miami did great during The Freak Show. LEts see how they follow it up. Thus far i am less than impressed and the bench is not as good as last year- that is for sure. They did nothing to add to their team and their bench certianly got worse.
Remember when Lakers fans were told there was no way the Lakers could get AD because too many teams could out bid them?
who the hell said the Lakers COULDNT get AD? they were always the favorite- Boston was in the discussion since they had more assets but they wouldnt give up Tatum- ESPECIALLY because Rich Paul made it clear he wouldnt resign there
I don't think anyone thought the Clippers were a threat to get Kawhi, let alone Kawhi and PG both...until they did.
seriously never remember anyone saying the Clippers couldnt get Kawhi. That was always the favorite in places for him to land. It was always either going to be remain in Toronto, go to the Lakers, or team up with someone in Clipperland
Do I think the Lakers are likely to do everything that makes sense to try to get him? Yes.

Do I think they are likely to get him? No.
the Lakers literally have nothing of substantial value outside of LEBron and AD. Everything else are role players that are good for a championship contender, (many of them overpaid because of the salary cap and the fact that the Lakers have their Bird Rights to go over the cap).

There is not one asset on the Lakers that has surplus value beside LEBron and AD and they owe multiple future picks to other teams already.
I don't think they can, but with all that we've seen...I'm not ruling anything out.

However, I'm not holding my breath either. lol

The Lakers are hard-capped which means they would have to match salaries

that means its basically impossible to even contemplate a deal without 2 out of the 3 off KCP and Schroeder or Kuizma at 12 and 15, 13 mill each- and thats just 27M of the 37M theyd have to match

Schroder's main contribution to the trade would be as an expiring contract.

The Wiz wouldnt want KCP for free on that deal. Lakers resigned him because they have his Bird Rights and couldnt get anyone nearly as good on a min. deal.

Harrell is on a 1 year deal (with a player option) and basically has no trade value to a team not in contention.

Mathews is just barely more than washed.

Maybe Kuzma at 13M a year has some value since hes signed for 2 more years depending on how a team grades him out- if your into paying Kuzma 13M a year. Maybe someone thinks there is a little surplus value there- maybe not- depending what you think he might be.

Beal makes a little over 28 mill....

Kuzma's extension doesn't kick in till next season.

SMH.

you are correct

which the Kuzma extension kicking in would only hurt them matching if they thought Kuzma was something they wanted. With Bertans signed and Haichimura they basically have the scoring/no defense under control.

a hypothetical offer of Kuzma, Schroeder, Harrell is just so ridiculously bad of an offer i dont even know where to start. The Cavs wouldnt take that for Drummond.

Underrated team in play could be the Pelicans. They have a ton of picks and could potentially send a few young pieces back as well as cap relief.

Lonzo, Redick, Hayes, 4 1sts for Beal.
this is fairly interesting id have to say

Lonzo, Hayes, Redick salary- some more salary filler...problem is all those picks are from the Lakers and Bucks (if they didnt want to trade their own)- which are likely to be pretty piss-poor.

Knicks might be interesting if they traded a Barrett and or Toppin, a couple pics- and then signed someone to play with Beal- but i dont know if they could convince beal to go there until they showed him they could get someone else

Honestly- the Warriros with Wiseman and the Twolves pick and a Oubre or Wiggins salary could make a move- but with Klay coming back and all the money they have committed to him would that make sense?

Beal and Booker are both classic SG's or id say maybe there would be something interesting they could do their.....

Miami could make a move if they moved Herro and some other stuff, though their pick cache isnt exactly full into the future which is an issue.

Thunder certainly have the assets but whod he want to go there?

Not even close.

Drummond isn’t an asset the Wizards would want. If they are trading Beal, they are tanking.

Cleveland isn’t getting Beal without trading Sexton +. Garland isn’t going to do it.
Garland is a pretty nice asset and young

id def. rather have him than Haichimura. Avidja- well see, but id lean Garland at this point.

@bksballer89 whats up with Butler? hes been out almost 3 weeks. Seems like a long time for Covid. I am just comparing it to the time the Browns got guys back- and some of the other NBa players.....but that seems like a while. Hes gotta be close.

i certianly think (and hope) theyd make the playoffs over the Cavs and Knicks who are ahead of them

though- cancelling games like you wanted the league too might have worked against Miami. You might be happy you dont have to play a bunch of makeup games in an already compressed league schedule down the line.

The Wiz have only played 14 games. At some point they are going to be playing a shit load.

but as for the playoffs its clear Philly, MIL, Brooklyn, Boston are 100% playoff teams in the East.

Those last 3 slots are currently occupied by the Cavs, Hawks and Knicks--- the Hawks are def. the most legit out of those 3. Heat should be able to eke out the 7th or 8th seed if get healthy you would think.

And that is what it would take for Cleveland to get Beal.

Not going to happen.
what single asset do you think will be available that is better than Garland in the NBA? Maybe Herro, or Barrett depending on what you think of him

Young guys on rookie contracts are super valuable in this league...especially if they are only 20 or 21 playing well around and they can shooter a jumper

He should be back this weekend. NBA guys seem to take longer for some weird reason. The 3 Mavs players just got back last night and they were out 2+ weeks but he was questionable tonight and been out free since Tuesday. Think they just want his conditioning up

Yeah I think most of us knew it would happen eventually the way things were playing out...but the Lakers are out of assets. It’s possible, just extremely slim. The Lakers had a young core with potential when they dealt for AD but most importantly his preferred option was LA and he was forcing his way out even by sitting games. If comes to that with Beal, sure, but there are a lot of teams that can make WAY BETTER offers that’s all we are saying

This team is getting killed by the Clippers without Bev, George, or Leonard.
