The longer this goes on the more I actually am losing my support/liking for Watson on this. His anger just seems over the top to me especially after agreeing to a long term deal with that very same organization and leadership that he now loathes because they didn't hire the person he wanted or give him the final approval. Marcellus Wiley made a good comment about this the other day that Watson needs to learn that money does not always equal power.

I still don't understand our culture now. A 4th year QB who has never won shit believes he has the right to have input on the GM? Thats BS. Russell Wilson having input on an OC, absolutely justified, mnaybe even on the HC but he still does not deserve input on the GM.

They have taken this empowerment BS to a new level. Brady does not have any right to influence a GM hire. Talk about a conflict of interest on contract talks. "Remember mr. GMN, I got you your job, now pay me!"

This is not a shut up and play, this is a shut up and know your place.

Anyone else hearing rumblings that there is going to be a lot of dirt coming out about their front office like the redskins last year?

Texans can't trade him, they just gave him the massive deal. It would strangle the organization cap wise and with the cap dropping damn near 35 million this next year, you would not only lose your franchise QB, but now you have to replace him, and probably cut a couple other players just to squeeze in under the cap with your draft picks.

If they trade him, they have to eat his cap money?

If DW wants out bad enough he can opt out of the contracting freeing up the cap hit

No he can't. The Texans don't want him gone bad enough they are willing to get compensated NOTHING for him. If you tear up the contract, he is a free agent. The Texans are playing dumb right now, but they are not fn stupid! Only way out of that contact is to retire.

Everything guaranteed gets accelerated.
The guarantee doesn't kick in until after the 2021 official year start so they can pas the hit on if they trade before that is how I understand it. I could be wrong though. If they can entice the Jets, Dolphins or whatever, they can draft Fields or Wilson with ohe of those top 3 picks and then they can start the rebuild. Also, the Texans can release JJ Watt before the league year and his 17.5 mil cap hit is off the books. They are going to be in full rebuild anyway, I think so they need to do this now. Watson's talent will be completely wasted there because Houston won't be sniffing the playoffs, let alone a shot at a SB for a few years. Their top pick right now is #67. Nothing in the first 2 rounds.

I didn't know that if they traded him before the beginning of the 2021 year, that it would be passed on. That makes sense on how any of this could even possibly work. I saw trade rumors that the Jets would have to give up both 2021 1st round picks this year, and both 2022 1st round picks next. Steep. But franchise QB's are not usually available ever. So.... Worth losing 4 first round picks over the next two years while trying to build around Watson?

True when I posted that I hadn't considered it from the Texans Perspective
