I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Heineke around as a back up but also want to start over at QB. Want Allen & Smith to move on, sign a vet stop gap, keep Heineke and draft a qb to groom in rounds 2-5 next year. Vet/Heineke/Draft pick.
look heine was taking exams at ODU and lets not let one game go to our head

i take allen because he is coming back at the vet minimum , i dont know what montez could offer so bring him to camp as maybe even heine

the cap dictates you keep CDC unless you sign a dak

Heine looked better in 1 qtr than has anyone not named Heineke. To be fair dad, we have shit here at QB, really. Smith is not healthy and likely never will be putting NFL QB duress on a leg that shouldn't be. Haskins is gone, thank goodness and to be fair, Allen may know the playbook however, he will never win any meaningful games for us. Heine is a nice little spark plug that will do fine in a familiar system under RR/ST at QB2 and you can keep grooming Montez.
Think RR can talk Smith into a QB whisperer type position on his staff next year?

the skins nor CDC will do that because of the cap hit

Could they add 1-2 years for a little more to average out the hit? He saves 13.6 to cut, but costs 11 still against the cap. Sounds dumb, but if they have him start that first year, that’s a cheap starting year and two expensive backup years for almost the same overall. Not saying he’d do it. I know cap hit is different than actual payment to Smith so maybe being cut wouldn’t matter and thus, no dice.

List of starting and the rounds they were drafted in:

Qb’s not drafted in the first round:

Bengals current qb - Brandon Allen
Dallas current qb - andy dalton
Dallas injured qb - Dak Prescott
Denver qb - drew lock
Jags - Mike Glennon
Raiders - Derrick Carr
Sportster’s favorite, the one and only Captains Courageous Kirk Cousins
Philly Special - Jalen Hurts
All SF qbs - Jimmy G., Nathan whomever, CJ Beathard
Some dude in Seattle,

AND......

The undisputed GOAT:

Thomas Brady.

Brandon Allen, Andy Dalton, and Mike Glennon are not true starters. They are the backups.

I still say Peyton was better and Mahommes is on a course to be better than all.

so i say keep drafting qbs . see if you can develop one , much like safety when we picked apke in round 4 , saw he wasnt what we want , then pick a curl

Wait a minute, Dad. Getting legit safety play was no where near that easy.

i know no one wants to hear it but i dont give 2 shits about the current nfl , you are going to most likely develop a qb into a decent starter and stop chasing the franchise guy which are rare

You got Foles in 18, a not what he once was P Manning in 16, A still more game manager than top 5 QB in Wilson in 14, a played like a top 5 QB at the perfect time, but he really wasn't Flacco in 13, Eli in 12 n 07, Big Ben 1st 09, Brad Johnson in 02, Brady's 1st one in 01 n Dilfer in 00.

That's 10 Super Bowls won by non-franchise QBs or decent starters. Though some probably consider Eli a franchise guy so from that perspective. 8 SBs won by non-franchise guys. So your opinion holds water n I know @Stymietee feels the same about building a team over getting a franchise guy.

But.......and I guess this is getting way ahead of ourselves or at least me getting ahead of myself. Do decent starters win multiple SBs?

Are you saying Dalton doesn't have the goods to be an NFL bonafide starter? I beg to differ. Dalton would be a perfect stop gap starter for the WFT next season. Yes, starter!

Marino and Montana are the best qbs of all time, with Manning (Peyton, not Eli) right behind them in terms of ability, but Brady ain’t no slouch either.

Brady/Belicheck is clearly the best combo of all time. Better than Noll/Beadshaw, or Walsh/Montana/Young.

Though Andy Reid is proving to be climbing the ranks too, and if Mahomey wins multiple super bowls, Reid might beat Belicheck too.

i think we should try to get away from the stop gap qbs in decide this is our guy or not . the question should be can dalton be a CDC type for 5 years or garrapolo , or tribusky , or taylor or stafford or ryan or a draft pick

You can't dad because the albatross of the AS contract. Maybe after next year we can finally settle on a vet qb? I think we can all agree we are a solid QB, a few offensive pieces and a couple LB's away from contending next year for the NFC title.

Yes it does...remember, I said SOLID qb play, not spectacular. We really have not seen any solid qb play this year from our qb's.

well then a solid starter we could get and not be hurt by the contract . you are looking at 11 mil in dead cap space and the 13 mil you save can be applied to the new guy

Don't kid yourself. Dan will rear his ugly head when it is time. Any one believing dan is going to change is severely mistaken.
But not over cutting an ape from your team.

Think it’d be nice if you go back to your own team board and post all the ape like comments you want. You add nothing but apeshit here.
