So Rundblad has looked like shit this year. It's his first taste of NA hockey!!!

I don't like this deal at all!!

I guess only time will tell though.

If it had been Rundblad for Turris and a 2nd I'd be kind of pissed but to throw in a 2nd rounder... bah...

Not a fan of this trade. Turris will have to be pretty awesome to justify this deal because I think Rundblad will be a good one.

I just watched some footage of Kyle Turris and I'm excited to watch him play on the Sens. I just think that Rundblad might come back to bite us in the ass. Particularly as there is a good chance he neds up in Quebec, playing us 6 times every year. :L

On Rundblad. His game has regressed since the start of the year. He's shown patience with the puck (too much at times), top-notch on-ice vision and good hands. He has some really nice tools.

His skating is weaker than I thought it would be however. To me this would probably improve to where it would not be a detriment to his game. The only two glaring issues I've had with his game are:

1) He makes WAY too many plays standing still. It ends, almost invariably, in odd-man rushes. He doesn't seem to make plays while in stride (at least not this year). Is it because he chooses to play this way or is it that he can't operate at a high speed. Either way this was becoming more of a concern for me. This issue may, or may not, ever be resolved.

2) His mental side of the game has been abysmal. Defensive lapses. Watching the play. Risky passes at both bluelines. Painful to watch. This, IMO, could (and probably will) be resolved with good coaching.

I think Phoenix is getting a heck of player in Rundblad.

In the end this is a potential for potential trade. I would have liked to see the Sens keep the 2nd though.

Shouldn't the team taking on the risk (Turris) be the one receiving the extra draft picks?

player for player it kinda makes sense but what the hell happened in the negotiations to warrant the draft pick

It's weird, Murray seems to fold when dealing from a position of strength.

"Oh, you really need a center, badly? Uh, just quick give me whatever junk goaltender you have lying around, take Vermette!"

"Oh, you've got a young guy who hasn't really proved jack squat, but he's a contract holdout and obviously doesn't want to play for you anymore? Here, take a guy we traded our 17th overall pick for, PLUS a 2nd rounder! Here, I'll even give you some doughnuts!"

I've thought about it a bit more and it actually does make sense. I think the play of Cowen the last few weeks allows Murray to take this kind of risk because there is no doubt that Cowen is going to be a stud. That and the fact that the organizations overall defensive depth is pretty strong.

We've talked about it repeatedly that the Sens need elite forwards and Turris has the potential to be one. I never thought Filatov would succeed and he didn't. However, I feel like Turris will be different. His overall game matches up perfectly with the style the Sens have been playing this season and he'll probably get to play with Alfie.

As for Rundblad. I think we saw some serious holes in his game that have become very apparent the last few weeks. I said as early as a week ago that I thought MacLean ruined Rundblad's confidence by sitting him but the mistakes keep happening and are actually occurring more frequently. He's not learning from his mistakes and the question is, will his game ever translate into NA success? I don't know but I still think he'll end up being pretty damn good.

I was kind of hoping this was going to happen once more.

"You have a center who just isn't meeting expectations and never will with some of the other guys in your system? Here, have the second best prospect in our system and let Brassard come here."

That would actually be logical.
