So far all reports say sprains and strains for the injuries lets hope those don't turn into anything major although my hopes for Carson are slim. That was such a cheap way to actually try and hurt someone they were laying on the ground what seemed like a second before he decided to roll.

I wish I believed that. 6 of the last 7 regular season games have been 400 yard games - and the one that wasn't was 398.
One of the reasons I don’t want them to extend Carroll... I don’t believe he would be good with out Wilson

Isn't Earl Thomas homeless right now? I know he has a grudge against Carroll but maybe he could be coaxed back? Our defense got seriously beat up today (injury wise) and a vet like Thomas could be huge in helping out.
I agree with this and I wouldn't have a problem with him coming back, but I don't think there's any way it happens.

That's good. Number of sprains. A couple Seahawks were rolled up on. Outside of Carson's injury nothing seemed dirty, just part of the game.

The good news is we have Miami next week who is not that great, and Minnesota who seems to be a dumpster fire, then the bye. So we may be able to be down a few guys the next couple weeks and then we get a bye to rest up... 4 weeks (before Arizona) should allow everyone to rest up if it's just sprains and nothing is broken/torn, but who knows.

Going to be REALLY annoyed if Damian Lewis is out for a while. We FINALLY get a good guard and draft an OLineman who has been great in the first 2.5 games, and here we go... UGH! He wasn't walking off the field with a major limp but was later on the cart and with the weight he has ANY sort of leg injury is magnified.

Survived another one, great to be 3-0, and here's what I take away from the game:
  • DK gets to make that mistake once in a career. We would all prefer it not made at all, but it's out there now and he needs to think of that play every time he hauls one in where he thinks he has a clear path to the ez. Ridiculous mistake that showed a total lack of awareness, glad it didn't cost us the game, hope someone like Duane Brown or Bobby Wagner chewed his ass for it. DK did catch the game winner, so to a degree I suppose we could say all's well that ends well. Never again though, young man.
  • The Offense. Russell's numbers looked good, but I thought he was a touch off on many throws. He threw low a lot and we didn't convert on 3rd downs all that well it seemed. We scored a TD very early in the 3rd quarter after the strip of Prescott, then not again until the very end of the game....so we went more or less the majority of 2 quarters with no points. However, I was very confident we would score on that last drive, and when you throw 300+ & 5 TDs but don't play as well as in the previous couple games, that's pretty ridiculous. 14 TD passes (it should be 15) in the first 3 games is an all time NFL record.
  • Injuries continue to be a league-wide storyline. Jamal Adams, Chris Carson, Damien Lewis, Jordyn Brooks -- will be shocking to me if all those players don't miss at least 1 game, and they won't be easy to replace.
  • The Defense. Held up well against Zeke. Pass D -- big problem again, and I'm not so sure it's the pass rush. I thought LJ Collier, Jarran Reed, and Alton Robinson had pretty strong games. I'm just starting to think our secondary is not as good as we anticipated before the season started, especially when Dunbar is inactive and Adams gets knocked out of the game....plus Blair out for the year. I was impressed for the most part by Ugo Amadi, but the expectation now is a track meet every time we play a team with at least an avg QB.
  • Nice to see Greg Olsen get his head out of his ass. Is Will Dissly still on the team??
  • Sounds like everyone on the OL is hurt to some degree minus Shell. That probably just makes them like everyone else in the NFL right now, but it sure is frustrating to see so many guys go down. When the league has a chance to put some smart people on a comprehensive study, I'm interested to hear their theories on exactly why we are seeing so many injuries. It has to be more than just lack of pre-season games.
  • 9-0 now vs QBs who throw for 400+ yards, and we also extended our streak of however many wins vs 0 losses when leading by at least 4 at half time. Too many data points for those to be flukes, but I suppose what they mean is up to some interpretation.
Miami next...everyone is gonna expect a blowout, but if you told me now a 1-score win with no injuries then I would be good with that.

We had a 15% pressure rate despite Dak throwing the 57 times. That is atrocious. Especially given how frequently we are blitzing. We knew they weren't running the ball and we still couldn't generate pressure.

This is the problem with depending on your blitz to generate pass pressure. It leaves spots open on the field. When you have your SAM and LBs all lined up within a few yards from the line of scrimmage, then you are putting a TON of pressure on your deep safety.

The hope was that our secondary would be exceptionally good at coverage to make up for the weak pass rush. It just isn't that good ESPECIALLY with all of the injuries.

I never worry about the style points with wins in September as long as we get the wins. This team always gets better as the season progresses

Maybe I could have worded it a bit better, but the point of my comment was more about how I think the secondary isn't as good as we thought than it was about the pass rush not being as weak. The pass rush is lacking, but I'm much more disappointed in what the secondary is going right now. I know one hand helps the other, but I expected the coverage to be much better than what we have seen so far. On paper it looked like a B+ or even A- a few weeks ago, and right now I think it's a C+ or B- at best.

The Cowboys have one of the best passing attacks in football. And when Dak has time he is going to find an open receiver. I think the secondary was not as bad as you would think yesterday given the yardage. But we just can't expect our secondary to cover those guys for 3+ seconds on every play. The only way you beat that type of offense is with sacks and picks. The 3 turnovers were good. We just needed more pressure as that could led to more picks.

To be honest I was MUCH more annoyed by our lack of pass rush last week against the Pats.

I would be very surprised if the Phish are able to do anything close to what happened the past 3 weeks and if they do then we have a real problem. Which doesn't mean that they won't pass for 300+ yards. If we keep cooking on offense it will naturally force teams to throw more which will lead to more pass attempts which will lead to more yards. But that, in itself, isn't the end of the world.

Oh, I definitely don't expect that either. But you know Fitzy McHarvard -- can throw 4 TDs one week and 4 INTs the next, so he's a big wildcard. Like you say, if we have a 3-score lead late in the 2nd half and he ends up going over 300 in garbage time, it doesn't mean a whole lot other than we had a big lead in the NFL.

There were quite a few quick passes Dak threw that resulted in big plays... He didn't need 3 seconds to get rid of the ball...

I know everyone is talking about how bad the defense has played but honestly looking around the league I am starting to think the days of great defenses shutting down offenses, sacks, stops, and dog fights are over. I don't think there is any team with a great defense in the NFL all the games where a teams offense didn't put up average numbers is usually from a bad team. I remember when a QBs season benchmark for yards was 3,000 now its 4,000-5,000. I think we should be open minded to how this is the way it is and our defense will give up points.

I think some has to do with the fact that their wasn't mini camps, volunteer camps, full monte Training camps, and preseason games... I think we're seeing defenses trying to catch up to the offenses... A lot easier for QB's, WR's/TE"s to get together and practice during this Covid era but a lot more difficult for the defense to practice and build continuity/chemistry... Half way through the season, I think we'll start seeing better play on the defensive side of the ball... I also believe not having a crowd/fans in the stands favors the offense as well...

Carroll said he and Wilson had a special moment before the offense took the field on that last drive.

“There was really a good moment as we’re getting ready from the break to go out on the last drive and Russ and I were just face to face and I said, ‘You know, a field goal wins it,'” Carroll recalled. “And he looked at me and I looked at him and I said, ‘We’re going for the touchdown,’ and we both said it at the same time. It was an awesome moment and the best part about it was after the game just before he was going to his press conference we revisited that moment because it’s just the way we look at it. Let’s go for all of it and get it and I couldn’t be more in sync with him in that sense and there was no doubt what he had in his mind.”
Very cool exchange between Carroll and RW right before the game winning drive...

Here is that cheap shot from T. Hill regards to helmet to helmet on RW... Should've been a penalty...
