Idk, Baker just looks like what Stafford has been a lot of years in Detroit. A QB with nice arm strength, some nice throws, and some dumb picks in between that generally keep him out of the conversation of elite. That may just be me though. Burrow is just crazy accurate when he's on time. I don't think his lows are Jameis level bad.
Agree. And Baker has many weapons. Burrow is rookie.

Burrow has some decent weapons too I think actually. That OL for the Bengals is... not going to be competitive with good DL's and it was a big problem tonight. Couldn't run, couldn't really pass all that well honestly either. Had to rely on 4th down conversions (5 for 5) keep drives alive. That's a very soft 30 points the Bengals put up tonight even if Burrow looked silky smooth doing it and did what he could against a talented Browns D.

He did throw some nice passes today. That speaks volumes, but did not Baker do similar in his dashing debut?

Yes he did. So much so I defend him pretty hard even now when a lot of people are trying to say he's a bust. People forget how good Baker was his rookie year, and that this is only his 3rd season. Burrow has a lot more polish to his game though where Baker even in college had at least some questions about his pocket presence. Burrow is probably one of the most pro-ready QB's to ever be drafted though so I think there's more projectability with Burrow than there was Mayfield.

I'm watching the highlights and Mayfield's arm just isn't very good when compared to Burrows. I don't think there was a single running back highlight for the Bengals in the entire game and the Browns had like 7 or 8 with two of the most talented RBs in the league.

I think I'm officially in the 'Mayfield is gonna bust' camp. He looks like a backup. Even with the win. He is holding the Browns back. They should've won that game by 17
He has the arm talent, that isn’t the problem. It’s the decision making...too many mistakes and it seems like it could always be like this. Burrow might already be a better decision maker for the most part and he just has better intangibles like awareness and escapability.

The funny thing is in Baker’s rookie season everyone was talking about Baker: accuracy and his ball looks so nice. He still throws a nice ball, it’s just about decision making and unfortunately that is something that only he can improve as well as reading defenses better. He was picked on that same play vs Baltimore, he cant make that throw

Honestly did not get how anyone thought from this game that Burrow's arm was better. Barely 5 yards/pass. Baker had some nice throws that showed at worst a nice arm. Burrow did look pretty good, though, and would not think at all crazy to already say you'd prefer Burrow if one had a choice.
Burrow made a lot of short throws for sure. Baker made more down the field. If Baker doesn’t make that one stupid pick he has a MUCH better game than Burrow. But Burrow was starting to get in a rhythm. When you throw 65 times you better throw for 300 yards, a ton of checkdowns but that shows patience as a QB to not force throws. I feel Baker forces things at times, he really only forced one throw the whole game. A pretty good game overall by both

I was very happy with bakers game. One mistake down the field. He has to trust this offense and not force stuff. If he doesn't turn the ball over they're going to move the chains with the backs.

I still say the Ravens game wasn't as bad as 38-6. But that defense needs players in the back 7 to get healthy.

And Vernon hurt again. Dude is glass

Sneaking suspicion the Bengals beat the Eagles next week after watching Burrow these first two weeks.

Certainly possible, but the Bengals' weakness looks to be interior line, and Philly is strong at defensive tackle with Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave and Malik Jackson.

Reading the breakdown from PFF and they aren't as glowing in burrows game

Seems a little rough for a dudes second game. The Bengals need to establish the run more to keep him from having to skate around in the pocket

Burrow so far looks pretty good. The Bengals are so weak in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

The browns should stick with that game plan every week. Run and then run some more

I agree but in Burrow's defense, he had people in his face all night. Trying to throw the ball downfield really wasn't an option. Like you said, good patience and not trying to force things. Honestly, with as little as Mixon and Bernard did running and how dominant the Browns front was, I'm impressed with what Burrow did.

I'm with you on Baker's decision making at times. Sometimes he is just trying to do too much, it seems. But all in all, he had a solid game.

Can't really put much stock into PFF, imo. The majority of posters on the hoop are as knowledgeable.

Baker's role on the Browns is to be a game manager. Browns fans talk about his decision making and thats what will decide if he stays as the starter long-term. 3 of his first 4 passes were play action rollouts including his big TD to OBJ. I hate to be like this but thats not really an indicator of teams respecting the pass. In the 2nd quarter Baker showed great vision, mobility, and decision making but he was also passing to wide open guys.

I think Baker is in the same category as Tannehill and Jimmy G. Which I guess isn't a bad place to be because they both got pretty far in the playoffs last year. The Browns can win like that. I just hesitate to think that he is a franchise QB and wonder if the Browns would be a scary team with a better QB.

Burrow, on the other hand, has little to no play action threat. He is going to get eaten alive this year.
