Facts can be stubborn things I guess.

Oh, OK.
:tinfoil3:
So you're going to just repeat yourself and ignore the sources cited, even though one of the sources is your beloved Official NCAA site?
Alright then... conversation over.
Looks like someone is gotten to.

The 1914 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1914 college football season. The team went undefeated at 8–0–1, outscoring opponents 193–0. Auburn's strong defense, which held opponents scoreless all season, helped the team garner a retroactive national title by James Howell's computer rating system. Auburn University does not claim or otherwise acknowledge this title.
In final game of the season, Auburn played the Carlisle Indians coached by Pop Warner.

LOL, Bama counts these

SportsHoopla has our own current poll, looks like we'll eventually need to ''retroactively'' award correct national titles too.

If anyone needs to head back to the minors it's you. The NCAA record site lists 16 championships for Oklahoma. OU only claims the 7 they were actually awarded by the AP/UPI/Coaches Polls. If you read the Wiki site article they also only mention the 7 OU actually claims yet the "official" count by the NCAA is 16.

The only one that sticks out that Bama fans like to claim is 1941, even though they finished 3rd in the SEC and 20th in the AP poll.

None of the WWII championship years should count... Hell the best players in the nation were fighting Nazi's or Japs....

That one is disputed with Ohio State.

Disputed is different than shared...but you know that, right?

For fun, here are the polls that selected Auburn or OSU in '57:
Auburn: AP, Billingsley, Football Research, Helms, National Championship Foundation, Poling, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELOChess), Williamson
Michigan St.: Dunkel
Ohio St.: Boand, DeVold, FW, INS, Litkenhous, UPI
Oklahoma: Berryman

Since we are talking about '41, you let me know how legit that one looks:
1941
Alabama: Houlgate
Minnesota: AP, Billingsley, Boand, DeVold, Dunkel, Football Research, Helms, Litkenhous, National Championship Foundation, Poling, Sagarin, Sagarin (ELO-Chess)
Texas: Berryman, Williamson

How Tubberville rewards his players for a great year in which no poll selected Auburn as National Champion is his business. That's entirely different than claiming the title and putting up a banner...

It's only funny because so many bama fans get defensive about it...
