TV only shows a few groups and that's about it. Being there you can walk around and see everyone. Just don't get stuck following lets say Tigers group. Yeah Saturday/Sunday is a mess... Try marshaling all of those people

I sure don't see it that way. In person there is a ton of down time as a group hits their shots, then 15 minutes later the next group hits. If you follow a twosome you see 8 shots in half an hour where on TV they are constantly going from shot to shot. With that said there is nothing like standing next to a tour player and watch the ball explode off the club face. That's something TV does not capture so I like to do both.

True there is down time but you can walk to another hole if you want and most courses you can see a few holes standing in one spot, unlike TV where they only show you the one or two players....

At Eastlake...on the range, you're right up on the players for the most part. The sound the ball makes is different. I remember watching Ernie Els warm up and the sound his irons were making was just so solid, yet it looks like he swinging 50%.

I did say it is a billion times better BEING there though... As opposed to watching it on TV.
Meh.

It's a neat experience, but I'm not sure BEING there is much better, let alone a billion times.

Now, one year I was fortunate enough to play the final round at Firestone CC before the Bridgestone Invitational. The course was basically in tournament condition and the bleachers were up and whatnot. That was a neater experience than being at a PGA event or watching it on TV.

Until further notice no fans are allowed at tournaments. Only volunteers and it's even less then ever needed.

So, the question is: Will people watch more on TV then they had previously or will they just pass on it? It's a million times better to actually be there in person to see it then it is to watch on TV but now that basically is our only option

Only when Tiger plays, will I watch...otherwise, what's the fuckin point?

I’ve enjoyed the skins matches quite a bit. I don’t really think the crowd is all that important to the game in general though.

I have never watched golf. I've played golf maybe three times, and hated it every time, but I'm probably gonna watch golf now because it and NASCAR are the only sports on. I've been a fan of racing my entire life, but never thought I'd watch golf.

The only golf events I've seen live are ones where I've volunteered. The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic and a few Nationwide events at my course.
I tried to get a volunteering gig at the Ryder cup but wasn't selected. The only other event I've been to was the masters.

You'll still here it. Most course have houses lining the fairways so there will always be that drunk dude saying it and most likely a bunch of them partying

Welcome...golf is like 180 degs from stock car racing...but both are good to watch with somebody that knows what's happening. Like my former neighbor that was getting me into NASCAR...my 1st race watching with him...the only driver I knew much about...#3 car driver...died on the track.

Golf is more appreciative to watch if you play and go see these guy in person. Just watching some guys that are really good at something you know next to nothing about is boring...like me watching pro archery.

I'm not disputing that.
There just isn't any excitement with the other players.
Nobody's chasing history like Tiger.
