I dont get the hate for Trent on this one. He basically came to the conclusion that the team didnt value his contribution or his safety. And thus he didnt want to be here any more. He is just another player in a long list of guys who we drafted, payed well, then treated like crap and wonder why they didnt want to stay.

This present FO wasn't involved in the issues Trent had with the team originally. And it seems he put way too much on his cancer diagnosis. Than he got super butthurt cuz new management didn't want to shell out 20 mill for a new contract while he only had a year left on his old contract. Then submarined a possible trade to the Vikes for whatever reason.

Not saying he didn't have some legit gripes. But he's from from blameless in the situation.

I probably would have handled it much as he did. If Trent were the first player to have been drafted by this team and then summarily dismissed for not wanting to just go along to get along, I would understand all the hate from fans who considered him a great player two years ago.

Trent wanted out, I dont blame him. IM hoping Rivera actually does change the culture in Ashburn, but Bruce was just another front man for the dysfunction that has been rampant with this team since the early 90s.

Treated him like crap? Lets see. They drafted in the first round, making him the first OL taken in that draft. They extended his contract after 4 years to make him the highest paid OL in the league. They stood by him twice when he violated the league's substance abuse policy. Yeah, that's treating a guy like crap.

This is by not means a defense of Bruce Allen, because he completely mishandled this and every other major personnel decision made during his tenure. Trent may have a beef, but being treated like crap can't be one of them.

I also don't blame Trent for wanting out. Who the fuck in their right mind would want to play for this organization over the last 10 years or so. But do honestly. He claimed early on it was all about his health. Money was never the issue. He lied.

I know we had to get rid of him but I was hoping that we would get more for him than we did.
