Which is even more reasons not to trade up IMHO. Depth has been an issue for years, and thus the more picks you have the better. Not every pick will be right.

Also, this draft is deep the more the picks in the top 100 the richer you will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the reasons I am nervous about trading up is if we hit on the puck we would be looking at signing Cubb and Sutton, signing Lock and Risner, signing Fant, and then signing the WR we trade for. That is going to be a lot of money in contracts. The WR we draft this year may be the odd man out and allowed to sign else where.

To me it is just how things work in the NFL. You are paying someone and if they run out of money because they have too many good players then man we should be all pretty happy that is an issue.

Now I will say though drafting a WR in the 1st honestly kind of helps things. They could decide to sign Sutton early making it where they have the 1st round WR on a rookie contract while paying Sutton big money then can just reverse that when the 1st round WR hits the market kind of thing.

Really right now the Broncos have the cheapest offense in football. James, Glasgow, and Gordon are the only offensive players on decent size contracts. The rest are on rookie deals for the most part. All of the money is invested on the defensive side. I expect that after this draft they let the offense grow together while then drafting for the defensive side as some of the older players like Von, Kareem, Casey, and even at that point Bouye move on. Reminds me of the early days of Manning where the defense was young with Von on his rookie deal and the offense being where all the money was invested.

Broncos have been getting quite a few phone calls about the availability of Garret Bolles.

Yes a good problem to have. KC had like $100 in cap space and still needs to pay Mahomes but they are on the brink of a dynasty.

When you have a window for Super Bowls you do not waste the thought of how does this decision change the future say 3-4 years down the road. You draft in some ways because of how you see the player developing for years 2-4 of the deal more so than maybe even year 1, but again when you have a chance at a Super Bowl I wouldn't be thinking of whether I can afford this player or not.

And the reality is no matter what position they play you want your 1st round pick to be at least a 2-contract kind of player. So let's say they draft CJ Henderson instead. Well you still have to pay those other guys and Henderson. The argument isn't whether we can afford all those players. It is who do you end up paying in the end. And right now as much as I like all those players listed above none of them have earned a 2nd contract. They all have that potential but it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of them didn't continue down the path we all hope.

Broncos are actively in negotiations with Justin Simmons on a long term contract right now.

Any word on what teams are offering for Bolles?

I hope it is a 3rd because that would be stupid to let him go he on the bench I would keep this year you never know when someone is going to get injuries

I would agree on a 3rd as the going rate for Bolles. I think for a 3rd I would rather him lining up at LT. I think he will be our starter or he will be traded.

Unless you grab an OT very very early you don’t trade your best LT . Not calling him great but you can’t do that. You would be setting Lock up for failure. I’d fire Elway on the spot barring a trade/first rd pick.

Find a team that needs a LT and has an early 1st, trade our first and Bolles for their first, then trade that first back a few spots to pick up a 2nd, boom 2 2nd’s and make 1 of them a LT.

While incredibly unlikely I’d be ok seeing what Kwon and Goodwin are going for.

Ooops. Didn't see this until after I posted this in another thread. Throw in Tevin Coleman as well.

9ers are looking to move one or two to free up some more money. They are very tight against the cap.

Remember last year we traded for Dekota Watson during the draft? Then he didn't make the team anyway, not that we gave up much for him. We moved down with a pick or something weird like that. Watson was really good on special teams the first time we had him but just didn't have much left last year when we tried to make it work again with him.

I'm wondering since we have cap space if the Broncos would be willing to take on one of these contracts as a way of trading up with the 49ers. So say the Broncos trade 15 and our 6th for 13 and Kwon kind of thing. Helps them cap wise and gets us into a better position to take one of the WR's.

Have you looked at his contract? Hideous. SF would have to help.

Well for this upcoming season he has a base salary of less than $1 million. He does have a per game bonus of $750,000 so not sure how that would work in the transfer.

What about Trent Williams for Bolles?

We would have to pay him and he is older but I would feel better with him protecting Lock's blindside.

You think the Redskins who are seeking two first round picks for Williams are gonna be ok with trading him straight up for Bolles?

I doooooooooooooooooooon't think so!
