He honestly had himself a decent rookie year as the #2. Glad though he got away from football and is now using his past to help others.

I didn't buy the suggestion that Byron Chamberlain was a one hit wonder -as it seems he was a factor over several seasons.

However, Billy Miller - was certainly a flash in the pan.

The only thing I remember about former number 1 pick Marcus Nash - was continuing to stay in bounds as a kick off return defender while having already lost his helmet one kickoff.

John Boyett, remember this story?

John Boyett, now a former member of the Broncos' practice squad, was arrested early Wednesday in Greenwood Village after police say he drunkenly head-butted and punched a cab driver, stole a shovel from a construction site then tried to hide from officers by covering himself in mulch, court records show.

Boyett, 24, told arresting officers to "contact his boss John Elway" before repeatedly slamming his head into a patrol car window while yelling and spitting, records say.

Tatum Bell was one of my favorite Broncos, and I know not a lot of people liked him. He was a threat to take it to the house everytime he had the ball in his hands. Sure, he didn't break tackles, he wasn't a 25 carry guy, he wasn't good at blocking... but he had a role.... He had a fumbling issue his rookie season but after that he really didn't have an issue. The guy averaged 5.7, 5.3, 5.3, 4.6 and 4.1 (Lions), per carry. Back when we had the combination of him and Mike Anderson together he was very good. I remember watching him do yardwork vs the Eagles and Patriots among many other teams during the 05 and 06 season. Guy could turn on the jets... He brought us back to victory against the Eagles, and ran all over the Patriots at a game I was at. He was a lot of fun. He could have some off weeks when the home run wasn't there. He wasn't fantastic but he was solid and fun.

When we traded him to the Lions for Dre' Bly things went downhill for him. He had predicted a 2,000 yard season and he went on to have under 200 yards after being inactive most of the season. He allegedly stole Rudi Johnson's duffle bag. I think he has a longer career if he doesn't steal from his teammate which is probably a death wish because nobody could trust him after. The Broncos brought him back late in the 2008 season because we had 5 RB's on IR.. and even Denver said "He was our only option", proving that the theft of the duffle bag really did his career in.... Almost like Denver had to have an excuse to sign him so the rest of the league knew he was their only option at that point. I remember as I saw Denver RBs go down that year I kept thinking.. Why are we not signing Tatum Bell?

He then came in and had a great final week of the season vs the Chargers on Sunday Night football. Averaged 5.7 yards per carry that year then was never signed to another team after. Nobody really wanted him after he stole from his teammate.

A lesson to other players, because although he played 5 years, had a 1,000 yard season and nearly had another 1,000 yard season, the NFL is a business and you can't steal from your teammates and people are just fine with it. This cost Bell a few more seasons in the NFL... Albert Connell stole from Deuce McAllister when he was with New Orleans and never saw another down in the NFL.. Almost like these guys could have hit a girl and been in a better position then stealing from their teammates.

When I think of Tatum Bell I can't help but think how much longer he could have possibly played had he just not stole from his teammate.. Someone would have wanted a home run hitter like him and the way he ended the 2008 season.. I think Denver would have re-signed him had they not felt backlash. He'd have been that perfect #2, change of pace, home run hitter that he proved he could be in the NFL under the Broncos.
