I'd keep one of the 2nd rd picks
They weren't specific with trading both of them, but I took it that way. I also read a separate article - can't remember where - but in it there was a scenario where Pace trades both 2nd rounders, but only farther back in the round in order to pick up two 4th rounders. So the Bears still have two 2nd round and now two 4th round picks.

I should also add that if by chance a player who was high on Pace's list landed at say #43, he'd probably take him and screw the trade down. That much I believe.

Yeah, we have limited opportunity to draft an impact player that can contribute now. We need at least one of those two 2nd round picks.

Hell, with Pace, I wouldn't even be shocked if he trades 43 and 50 in order to move UP into the first round. lol

Yeah, we are in "win now or die" mode. We need players who can come in and contribute. After round 2 - the prospect of that begins to get less and less likely. Need at least one of those guys in the form of a SS, CB, WR or OL.

I always like best player available. However, I think this year is a rare exception. Like I said, this regime needs to fill holes and fucking win football games. Period. Not bring in developmental talent in a depth role where we already have an established starter.

That's a very good thing though. Teams really don't know what to expect from him so that's probably plays a role in how he manages to snag big-time contributors like Eddie Jackson and David Montgomery.

Also, I wouldn't be flatly opposed to trading down from the 2nd round to pick up some more 3rd and 4th rounders. Pace has a history finding immediate contributors there. If he and the scouting team are really high on some guys there then why not?

Well, of course, it all depends on who is there at #43 and at #50. So, it's somewhat of a moot point to debate.

We have two first round picks, though. I do not foresee a scenario where it would be logical to trade BOTH of those. Unless your draft board is just a mess and you don't like anyone available at those spots. Something wild would have to happen.

I don't know how being unpredictable played a role in helping Pace draft Eddie Jackson.

Picks in the top 2 rounds are pretty valuable. I don't think it's wise to start saying "Ah, F the early picks. Our GM is better at the later ones." At the end of the day - you still prefer a pick of the elite talent.

Agreed. Of course it'll depend on who's there.

Having the 2 2nd rounders could work out in Pace's favor for trade downs. He might have a guy he's targeting and it looks like he can get him with the second pick, so he trades down the first. Then maybe he could trade down again if his target still could be got with perhaps a lower 2nd he got from the first trade down, so he trades down again. Who knows, we'll see. I get the feeling that Pace would rather have more darts to throw at the board though.

Id keep both......

We have a great team going.......Id rather we get good quality olinemen and a db with our 2 2nd rders rather than go for quanity......
I'm with you in spirit, but if by chance we could grab a couple additional picks, yet still keep our two 2nd rounders, even if they're a touch later, I'd be even better with this. Now mind you, that scenario presented by WCG is nothing more than wishful thinking, perhaps a bit biased being it's from fellow Bears fans. But if Pace could pull something similar to those two trade downs, I think that would be a pretty solid move.

I said it before tho, if there's a player that Pace has a major chub for and he's sitting there at #43, then why bother trading, at least that particular spot.

I'd be fine with either. There is starting talent in the 2nd rd. We have a pretty good roster imo, with decent depth. I'd love to see a stud, big-ugly on either side of the line, with Strong Safety or CB.

I'm no longer against a DB with one of our first two picks, if for no other reason than just about the entire draft analytical world has us taking such. It's only cool to be in a group of one up to a point. I thought our depth was sufficient to handle the secondary, but apparently it's not - ok for depth's sake but not with respect to being starting material. So I'm down with taking one and I like your three picks so far, altho I wouldn't be adverse to one of those three choices going to the EDGE.

I try to go value over need, and there just wasn't an EDGE player that lined up with where I was at. I didn't wanna reach just for position. Gladney was my highest rated player on the board at the time, with almost every mock I looked at, having him go late in the first rd.
