Of course that's depending on there being any season at all:

REPORT: MLB Planning On 100-Game Season Beginning July 1

For the sake of discussion, let's assume this to be accurate. I think we'd be looking at a similar schedule to what I posted a couple of weeks back, which was based on 120 games:

40 games against our own division
60 games against the other two divisions in the league
20 interleague games pitting regional divisions

The simplest resolution here would be to eliminate the interleague games, the rest remains the same. This would provide a relatively balanced schedule with each team getting the same number of home and away games. Obviously, there were be more games played against teams within our own division.....8 each against them, 6 each against the other divisional teams.

Another alternative would be:

56 games against our own division
40 games against the other two divisions in the league
4 interleague games pitting regional divisions

Here we bring back 4 interleague games to the mix. My guess is they would try to make it as close to an intercity/interstate rivalry as much as possible, ie Sox-Cubs, Yanks-Mets, etc. Overall, we're looking at a much more imbalanced schedule, emphasizing divisional play. It would mean 14 games each within the division, 4 each against the other two divisions, and 4 against the other league team.

Gonna be close. If there isn't any significant progress in getting a grip on the spread of this virus in the next 4-6 weeks, I fear they'll shut down the season altogether. I'm not confident we'll have baseball in 2020, but I'm trying to keep that small flame of hope burning.

If baseball starts in July - I guess the Rangers will have to start their June swoon in July.

Anyone see the rather extreme proposal to get the season going by mid May-ish?

All teams quarantined into Arizona spring training facilities and fanless games for 4.5 months.

Now, that's wild. Understandably, the reaction is mixed among players. Fans with families are saying "no way" and the others seem to be for it.

Personally, I would watch a season play out in a Wal-Mart parking lot, at this point. So, I don't really care.

My question... Why not use that as a method to re-open spring training and then even to start the regular season. Then, instead of a full season commitment. You set a date aside a date for a re-evaluation. It would look pretty silly if the league committed to such a stringent policy. Only for business to be getting back to normal in August. Then, your league is stuck in Arizona.

I read that mid-May starting hope from the MLB brass and I think it's a fallacy at best. I see 0% chance of restarting operations in mid-May. Maybe back office preparations, but players on the field? Not a chance. Early June at best. And that in turn means a crash course in player conditioning and the resume of Spring Training games to prep for a July 1st start of the regular season. I think the rest of this month and how the battle against this virus shapes up will be the determining factor with respect to the game's return. If by May 1st there hasn't been any easement of the self-quarantine and stay-at-home directives imposed by the federal and state governments, then I fear the season will be lost altogether.

I'm very interested to see how all this falls out for tickets.

I've got about $500 into tickets for June through ticketmaster/Indians MLB site, but for games in Cleveland. I would be fine with just getting a voucher or whatever, but God knows if I can find a way to Cleveland while the Sox are in town that fits my schedule again.

I think mid-May is possible. There's been a lot of good news over the past couple of days. Latest projections have moved the peak all the way up to 3 days from now. Reports say within 4-8 weeks is when the current admin believes the economy will reopen.

And we definitely don't this to end by May 1st for a baseball season. That's two full months before the opening day target. If they can get a couple weeks of spring training in starting in mid June-ish, they'll be good to go. Even if they have to wait for July 1st for a spring training period and start regular season mid-July. We will be good.

I stand firmly by the "no season will happen" stuff is complete nonsense. One way or another, it's going to happen. Whether it has to be fan-less games or whatever for the regular season. By playoffs it should be normal games as we know them.

Well, the NFL draft is over - for a few days it felt as if life was returning somewhat to normal, even if the draft was held remotely. But zero, I mean zero talk of any return to baseball in the coming weeks - well, unless you want to count Korean Baseball, that is.

And not a peep out of MLB.com, baseball's official website, as to any developments or updates. I'm losing hope by the day there will be any baseball this year or if there is, it will be so out of whack (like that goofy all-Florida/Arizona idea), that it will almost be pointless to have bothered. Somebody give me a reason to keep the faith!!!!!

even if mlb decided to try to play i'm sure there are players who would refuse (as i would). there's not going to be any baseball this year.

change your faith to "no baseball"!

Logic dictates probably a 95% chance that there will be an MLB season this year of some kind. Quite frankly, I don't really understand the argument that there won't be. Many people are starting to go back to work RIGHT now or in the very near future. Much less start playing baseball roughly a month or more from now with no fans and possibly a quarantined league.

I don't know why the NFL draft would be a milestone point for the MLB to have an official plan. There's not going to be news every day.

This article was just published this morning.

Coronavirus update: NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA plotting steps to return from pandemic

All three leagues are plotting their return to action. Here’s the latest:

NBA

Per Yahoo Sports: “The NBA informed teams on Monday that it is targeting May 8 at the earliest to allow teams to open their practice facilities with the purpose to ‘allow for safe and controlled environments for players to train in states that allow them to do so.’”

MLB

Per ESPN’s Jeff Passan: “Over the past two weeks, as states have begun to plan their reopenings, nearly everyone along the decision-making continuum -- league officials, players, union leaders, owners, doctors, politicians, TV power brokers, team executives -- has grown increasingly optimistic that there will be baseball this year.”

Per The Athletic’s Jim Bowden: “Major League Baseball has been holding biweekly meetings with all 30 front offices and ideas have been flowing back and forth on how baseball could potentially return to playing games. So far, the most discussed ideas have been putting all 30 teams in Arizona; splitting up the teams between Arizona, Texas and Florida; or having teams play in Arizona and Florida based out of their spring training facilities.”

NHL

Per NHL.com: “As many as four NHL arenas would host three games each per day without fans in one of the scenarios the League is considering to finish the season, Commissioner Gary Bettman told Sportsnet on Wednesday. The NHL, which paused the season March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, also floated the idea to the general managers of holding the 2020 NHL Draft in June before the season ends.”

College Football

Per YardBarker: “Stadium’s Brett McMurphy reported the NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee is recommending a six-week period for preseason training activities ahead of the start of a regular season. Per McMurphy, it’s not known if six weeks would be mandatory for all programs.”

perhaps you've been listening to the politicians instead of the experts? a second wave is likely, the virus itself is still so little understood and if i'm a very rich athlete i do NOT take the chances to expose myself and hope that all the other players i'd be rubbing up against are as careful as i am. out of all the athletes you're talking about here all it would take is one to get seriously ill (or die) and it all comes to an abrupt end.
now do you understand the argument?

So here's the latest and apparently what the owners are going to propose for restarting the season:

MLB, owners to discuss plan to restart season on Monday

So the schedule would involve games only played within the division and the opposing league's matching division. They're talking a 78-82 game schedule, but nothing further as to whether it will be imbalanced, such as more games against our own division, or home/away balance, etc. And definitely nothing about fan attendance, which I continue to think is all but completely out of the question.
