A season is happening. It was never going to be canceled. I'm right again. Iddy is wrong again. Who is shocked? Nobody.

And if the rest of the country is working? There's no reason baseball players can't. Most people are working in places like offices or factories whilst earning peanuts. Baseball is already the most distanced team sport there is. Zero reason they cannot play for millions with world class doctors advising/monitoring them, tests at their disposal, etc. They're far more safe than people like myself and others on this board who are back to work.

Now, let's talk baseball again so you can find things to bitch and moan about. Maybe you can lie about the state of our farm system again and make useless player comparisons to guys who played during the Truman administration.

Time to put on that dunce hat and dunce around for us. Board dunce.
still an asshole i see. who is shocked? nobody.

So it looks like 40 of the 60 games will be within our own division. That shapes up to be 4 games at home and 4 away against each divisional opponent. I'm guessing all four of each will be played in one series respectively, altho they may have to bust up a couple for scheduling purposes.

That leaves 20 games against the other league's corresponding division, 2 at home, 2 away against each of those 5 teams.

On paper, this could give the Sox a leg up, being that more than a quarter of our total schedule will be against the Tigers and Royals. Of course OTOH, that same percentage applies against the Twins and Indians, two very tough teams. Then again, in the real world all this doesn't mean jack squat. Every team is starting from square one and they're all swimming in uncharted waters. Maybe in this situation bad teams can get off to a good start and good teams vice versa. In a super shortened season, this carries a helluva more importance than when you have a normal 162 game schedule to iron out the wrinkles.

Major oopsies. Make that 10 games against each divisional opponent, and 5x5 for home/away games. It's called simple math and I get an F for the previous post numbers. I'm guessing it's less likely we'll play a bunch of 5 game series, altho I wouldn't rule this out either.

I haven't dug through all the details...Will there even be home and away? Are they still talking about playing all the games in Florida/Arizona?

I think not because those are Covid19 hot spots now

Even if Arizona wasn't a covid hotspot, it would be extremely difficult to play games in that intense heat, especially in July and August. Every game would have to be at night and even then, the night temps often hang around the 100+ mark. The games will be played in the teams respective ballparks, as they should be.

Beating up on Detroit and KC will be paramount.

Nice. That's what I was thinking as well. 1/4 or 1/5 capacity with seats sold being spaced out. Then, reevaluate come playoff time.

Hey, we might actually notch a fair amount of sell outs. lol

That's almost an understatement. We're going to be facing some tough teams in the NL Central in those shortened series, and of course we already know how strong both the Twins and Indians are. So in a 60 game season, any and every loss to the Tigers and Royals will be like a dagger to whatever chances we may otherwise have for the playoffs.

All those times, back in the pre-renovation blue seats into the stratosphere days, that I did the "must do" climb to that f*cking corner seat all the way in the top corner of the upper deck....It was all in preparation for the days of COVID.

Here's an interesting little bit of trivia. This will be the shortest season and the fewest games played in MLB since 1878.

Another bit of trivia - it's almost July and the Sox are tied for 1st place.
