Pence added and Maduro outrighted to Sacramento. I thought they had to dfa him and get him to pass through waivers. I wonder if Maduro was actually dfa'd when Flores was signed and has completed the waiver process.

Giants pick up Jarlin Garcia off waivers from the Marlins and designate Burch Smith for assignment. I really like this move! Garcia is still fairly young (27) and had a good season in Miami's bullpen in 2019. I have no idea why they dfa'd him. Smith wasn't that impressive to me so I don't have a problem seeing him walk. He is 29 and yet to establish himself in the big leagues.
We are still waiting for word on how the Giants get to down to 40 as a dfa move hasn't been made in order to add Flores.

That is correct. At least two other clubs have done the same thing.

You may want to remove Matt Carasiti. Nothing officialy in terms of transactions but he is scheduled to have TJ surgery soon. His season is done.

This move is getting blasted, but minor league spring training games are starting today, and he wasn't going to make the roster, so it's time to get him working with the pitchers he's going to receive. Also, he's literally right next door, it's not like he's in a different state. No big deal

I've been pondering this for awhile, I wonder if Zaidi has numbers that show optimal times to DFA someone to get them through waivers and so forth. I'm sure there's SOME method to the madness.
