I don't think our team is as bad as people make it out to be. I think Young is a game changer. We have a lot of money to spend in FA. Yes if we lose TW its a hole, but it can be filed with avg. talent. Let me ask you this? Do you want Tua at #2?

I understand what you are saying but I actually think the team is worse than people think. We have 2nd year QB who was up and down last year and we do not really know if he is the future, our starting RB is 35, we have 1 very good WR and 1 who is coming along, we literally have no starting TE, our RT is below average, both Guards are free agents, we have no real LB corps. to speak of and our secondary is shakey at best.

I do not think we will be wise and aggressive in FA based off of history with our FO but we do have a new FO so who knows. With respect to LT, you really should not simply try to have average talent. It is literally the 2nd most important position on the field outside of the QB position.

No, I do not want Tua at the 2. I want to trade down and I am not going to be convinced of that anytime soon unless we have the best free agent signing period in the past 100 years. You build a team through the draft and I am not convinced at all that Young is this amazing player that everyone makes him out to be.

Well we disagree on this. RB position is fine with Guice and Love. AP is just a bonus this year. The offense is young and if the olineman are brought back we could do good things this year. TE position will be solved whether its FA or the draft. Moses had a bad year last year but he can be serviceable for this year. Donald Penn was very serviceable and he is as old as the hills. You don't need a superstar player at every position to be successful.

You are the only one that I have talked to on here or in life that is down on Young. This guy is way better than Myles Garett from the Browns. Talent wise better the the Bosa brothers. Do you really think Rivera and Del Rio are going to pass on him to acquire two extra picks? That's saying if Rivera has the final say in the draft process. Detroit will get the huge trade offers not us. If we do get a trade offer it will be less than what people think. Im thinking just two extra picks plus the swap. There is no way the Dolphins are giving up their 3 first round picks plus there 2nd to move from 5 to 2.

Lets let FA play out and see what holes are going to be filled. I think many will be filled.

I am not down on Young but I have just heard the terms "generational player" far too often. Courtney Brown, Andre Ware, Brian Bosworth, Dion Jordan and Vernon Gholston come to mind. The media knew far beyond any doubt that these players were going to be game changers. They were all busts and were terrible. I personally do not think Young will be a bust but I do not think he is the next Lawrence Taylor either. I watched him in 3 games this year and came away unimpressed. Maybe I watch more college football than others here, I don't know. It was just my opinion. I am just not on board with the Young worship wagon.

Young could very well be better than the Bosa brothers. We do not know that. Again, outside of Cincy, we literally have the worst roster in the league. We literally have the worst offense in the NFL and we want to add a 4th straight DLineman?
That doesn't make any sense to me. If we have no trade offers, we take him. But we should have trade offers as suggested. I have not read that MIA will give 3 first rounders and 2 seconds. I have read multiple outlets suggest 2 first rounders and 1 second one.

I do think Rivera will take Young as its the safe play. I also think if we do not acquire more picks, we will be having this same conversation next year as we will be 5-11 as our offense will be in shambles and we will be needing yet another QB in the draft.

very dangerous thinking because it leads to taking shortcuts .

you cant keep giving up talent and replace it with lesser talent and expect improvement

losing potential 3 starting o/lineman isnt good

and yes we were awful last season and we need to get quick turnarounds out of our heads and expect a full 3-5 years to right this ship .

hopefully it can be quicker

But you are making this claim without FA even happening. When FA ends we will be better team then what we are now. The rumor I heard is Miami would give up an extra 1stound pick and a 2nd round to move up to 5. So that's only two extra picks that we gain. Including the swap. Not enough for an elite pass rusher in my mind. Lets build this team like eth 49ers built theres. Young jump starts this defense.

Whos; giving up talent? I want Scherff, Williams, and Flowers back. Its doesn't have to be a 3-5 year wait to become a winning team.

In that message yes if we cant afford him. If we lose him the new cant do anything about it. I still think TW is overrated but he is better then what we have now.

We could sign a LT at 10mil, and Scherff at 12 mil and still have 50 mil in cap.
I really don't want to lose BS, he is top 10 when healthy, and perhaps the new regime will keep our linemen healthier.

Again, the defense is not the main problem. The offense is what is killing this team. We literally have the worst offense in the league and will not have another draft pick until the 3rd round. We have invested our first round draft pick on the DLine the past 3 drafts and you want to draft yet another DLineman?

This is typical Skins philosophy. One pundit said about the Skins "The house is on fire and they want to finish the basement".

I watched Chase Young play in a hand full of games against elite talent and he was average. I did not see the game where he played against Boy Scout Troop 120 and had 10 sacks. He is a great player....but its not a position of need at all and he is not the game changer you are claiming he is.

FA has not happened but the rumors I am hearing are not good. We are targeting Austin Hooper and James Bradberry while tagging Sherff. That chews up a tremendous amount of cap room while doing little to address the problem. In other words, I do not think FA will help as much as you are thinkings.

Here are our 2019 stats. They are awful and we now have a starting 35 year RB and a back up who is never healthy. Keep in mind we have an unknown play caller as well. In other words, it doesn't look that good.

Skinsdad-

How many more times are we going to say we are in a 3-5 turnaround? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We have been in a 3-5 turnaround for over 15 years now. At some point, we have to draw a line in the sand and go for it. If we are "frugal" in FA and I have proven we do not draft well and hit on 50% of our picks, then what suggestions do you have?

What talent are we giving up? Flowers? He is on his 4th team in 5 years and graded out as an average Guard. I do not know why people are emotionally attached to him and some of the other medicore players we have. Just because we signed or drafted them does not magically make them "key players".

The Redskins need to be active in free agency they don't have to go Bonkers just go after players at positions of need that will improve the team then go into the draft getting the best players

Probably...

I am used to it by now
No SB since 1992
No playoff wins since 2005
2nd worst team in the NFL last year

Yup, I love this team but they make dumb decisions historically...why expect anything differently?

We will be talking about this next year again and wondering how we can score another OC and franchise QB. But all means...go Chase Young!!!

I can't wait to drop another 1st round pick on DL in 2021!

One last thing, how in the world can the RB position be ok? Love has never touched the ball and had to sit out all of last year. We have no clue what he has and is STILL recovering from a 2018 ACL tear. Guice literally cannot stay healthy and is on year 3. AP is 35 years old. We are in a BAD spot.

WOW. I can feel your hate through the computer. Think positive. Young is the best defensive player in the draft. Remember the BPA people. Suddenly those people dropped off the face of the earth. He is he BPA and fills a need. I want Young b/c he gives this team a legit pass rusher. RK best days are gone, Sweat the jury is still out, Allen is not a legit pass rusher. Having a legit pass rusher trumps every position on the defense.
