I don't care what Trout said, nor whether I agree with him or not... Its just nice to hear the best player in the game be passionate about something about the game...

Of all players to speak, he needs to be one... no matter what he said... even if he supported the astros and their players... I would still want to hear...

Say you’re in high school taking a test. You cheat on that test; you get a 100. Whatever your grading scale is, you get the top grade. You get called into the principal’s office the next week, right: “Hey, you cheated on the test. We caight you. But we’re gonna fire a teacher instead of firing you.” So now you’re reaping all the benefits of that and noew you’re applying for college.
Actually no, what happened was the equivalent of firing the teacher and the principal for giving the kids the answers to help the school look better. Should we punish the kids for taking the answers given them by their teacher who they are supposed to look up to?

Now, the analogy fails because the Astros players were not kids, they were adults, and they should have spoken out earlier. But then, they are snitches. It's not such an easy thing to adjudicate.

And I am in no way defending the players. To me, the management got fired, which is good. The players will have tarnished reps forever, like Bonds and Clemens, and that is a pretty harsh punishment. You can't go back and undo the 2017 title any more than you can erase the HRs Bonds hit or the wins Clemens pitched. But the fans will always have the narrative and that's pretty harsh punishment IMO.

Also, in the end, it's sports. It's a game, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter who won the 2017 title.

I think it is less about the punishment of the players (bc what can they really do and like you said ridicule, possibly banishment from the HOF if elected in the future, hate from fans and players, etc. will be a lot) and more about the commissioner speaking up and giving the narrative, if you do this again there will be harsh punishments for all involved. He is just kinda blowing it off when this systematic way of cheating was really like something we have never seen before...he needs to step up to the plate and do something. Now, what should he do? I really can't answer that question but it needs to be a hell of a lot more than he is doing.

Lol @ Mike Trout winning a playoff series.
The Pirates have more recently won a round. :heh:

But this is DEFINITELY their year, the previous ones didn't count.

Trout usually remains neutral or at least I’m not used to him speaking out like this so I was a little surprised as well. But good for him. I hope he lines a ball into Bergman’s dick this season.
I actually have a photo of Trout rubbing his balls on Alex' dick

All yours for the low low price of $10000

I'm sorry, but "it does matter who won the 2017 title". The Astros cheated and the 2017 World Series trophy has to be vacated

@The Oldtimer

Really it matters that much? Does it matter who won the 2015 world series? How about 1993? 1956? 1905?

Yes it does matter "who won the 2015,1993,1956 and the 1905 World Series", if you are really a true baseball fan. The 2017 Astros cheated and don't deserve the 2017 World Series trophy.

Well, the 'true baseball fans' (like yourself presumably) will obviously never forget the situation and circumstances. Just like true baseball fans know the 1919 WS was tainted (and some say 1982 was too). How about the 1990s Yankees titles? Lotta roids going on there.

As I've gotten older this stuff matters to me less and less. You are older than me, but clearly that's not the case for you.

As far as 'true baseball fan', I actually have every series winner memorized because I am compulsive that way LOL

As I said it's not a perfect analogy. And as I also said, the punishment is that those players are now forever tainted, Bonds/Clemens style, and probably not getting in the HOF either.

And remember, the cheating on the test was more like: the kid's teacher and principal come up to the kid and say "we need to score well on this test, here's the answers" not just some random kid cheating all the other kids in the class.

The school cheated the other schools like the Astros cheated the other teams. So you punish the management hardest, and then gotta figure out what to do with the 'kids'. Unlike a test, you can't make them take it again. You can't replay the Series.

Nobody is saying "to replay the 2017 World Series", just vacate the 2017 World Series, as the Astros don't deserve that trophy.

In your mind and many others, it already is vacated. There will always be an asterisk.

That was always my point, the asterisk is there, just like 1919. They don't have to 'vacate' anything.
Well IMO, MLB needs to vacate the 2017 World series. Look what happened to USC in the Reggie Bush case.
