I hear folks ( not sure if your included) say Shanahan fucked up by asking Jimmy G to pass in the closing minutes with second and 5 yards for a first down. I get that the 49ers been running the ball well, I get running time off the clock per say helps some. However a first down would/could been the dagger to end the game. Second and 5 is a ideal passing down, since the defense has to defend the run as well as the pass. Yet folks talk as if it was insane for Shanahan to go this route. It's really a admissions that Jimmy is sub par, nobody would blink a eye if Mahomes, Rogers, Brady or some other decent QB was asked to do the same.
Yers. On 2nd a nd 5 and running out the clock Shanahan foolishly called for a pass. The only way to stop the clock is an incompletion and Shanahan did just that. Just ask some of the Chiefs defenders who said they were shocked but happy that Shanahan lost his mind there.
But we've already established that Garoppolo is one of the best QBs in the league; see below
"".....While Jimmy G’s numbers don’t jump out on first glance, the 28-year-old was tied for fifth among league quarterbacks in touchdown passes (27), third in yards per attempt (8.3), and tied for fourth in completion percentage (69.1)………"[/QUOTE]
see above.

Player X had:
a 65.1% completion percentage
30 td's
8.2 Y/a
and had 1k more passing yards

must be a top qb

Player Y had:
9.6 y/a
a 70.3% completion percentage
only 5 less td's than jimmy, and played 4 less games

Again , elite

Player z had
8.6 y/a
19 td's in a mere 8 games
64% completions
only 1400 less yards than jimmy in 6 LESS games.......

all must be top 5

He's 19th for attempted passes. To put that in prospective only 13 QBs played a full slate of games ( Jimmy G being one of them). A lot of teams had injuries or a unsettled QB situation. In addition the 49ers are one of the teams leading in throwing short passes and counting on YAC. Most of Jimmy good stats are limited attempts ( thus easier to have a better completion % over volume passers) and short passes to players who turn them into big gains bolstering Jimmy stats. Jimmy still has his training wheels on. It's really obvious if your not a Jimmy G nut hugger.

We've already established that Garappolo is one of the top QBs in the league. What else is there to debate?
As far as your "Dilfer" drivel, I'm trying to do you a favor and ignore it to save you the embarrassment of anyone else reading it.

What we have have established is Shanahan has been treating Jimmy like a raw rookie all season long. Jimmy's flame out in the Super Bowl explains the reasoning behind it.

he arrived in 2017 with the team 1 and 10 and they ended the season 6 and 10 and not a single person here could name one of his wide receivers. he was the sole difference in the team. The dude is a winner and his stats are excellent. He has the best winning percentage of any QB in NFL history.

LOL! One garbage time INT that bounced off a receivers hands into a DBs hands. Other than that he was pretty solid. But calm yourself you are getting delirious with your non sensical stats.
here are the stats that count. 15 wins and 4 losses including two complete thrashings of the Packers in which he out-played Rodgers both times.

Yet they won the division and Seattle couldn't even beat a 9 and 7 team in the playoffs without Clowney committing the most dirty play of the season to knock out Wentz. Garoppolo is a winner. No doubt about it.

What does Seattle have to do with this thread? Deflection is what. Gotta take eyes off of Jimmy G flame out.

Its the reason you are a hater. You got whipped by a QB you deem inferior and it galls you to no end.

Oh good lord, your giving Jimmy G the credit for the good record over last season? Last year the 49ers were a mash unit. This year they had better health and Bosa and Ford to firm up the defense. Jimmy was just along for the ride. Honestly one of the 49ers back up QBs would of been adequate.
