This trade is a disgrace for the Red Sox and for the league. I don’t understand why the owner of such a prestigious ball club—a de facto public institution—would charge his baseball operations department with ridding the team of a once-in-a-generation player when he could keep that player and continue to rake in unspendable profits. It’s such a mind-bogglingly greedy and self-defeating move that I resent being made to try to understand it.
That’s melodramatic nonsense.
He had a broken wrist, dumbfuck. Now go suck off your little girlfriend @StanMarsh51.
That’s melodramatic nonsense.
He’s looking at the trade as if it occurred in a vacuum. It didn’t. The problem is the Red Sox gave Dombrowski the reins, and he did what Dombrowski does. He handed out a handful of shit contacts and emptied the farm system, effectively crippling the team for the near future.
Even with dumping Price’s absolutely atrocious contract, the Red Sox opening day payroll still is about $180MM, ranking 5th in MLB.
Get this, in 2020, Price will be the highest paid player on the Dodgers. Teams can’t go around making a host of dumb moves and expect not to pay for them (unless we’re talking about the Yankees). Yesterday, it was time for the Red Sox to pay.
also, fuck the author for crying foul when the precious Red Sox can’t afford to keep their star player. As a fan that has watched his team trade away countless stars, including back to back Cy Young winners (Sabathia and Lee), and is now about to trade away Lindor, I say the author of that shit article can suck my balls.
"a disgrace for the Red Sox and the league". lol. I picture the author of that shuffling around his mansion in his robe and slippers asking his housekeeper what happened to his favorite bow tie. Yes, I picture him wearing a bow tie, or possibly an ascot. That’s melodramatic nonsense.

Do they suck balls better or worse that Red Sox fans?FTR, the author is a Phillies fan.
Yeah Price has been a very solid pitcher overall but you know how there are some guys you just hate to bet against in a big game? Price is a guy I have bet against in many big games and it seems like I haven't regretted it that often.Pros: Don't have to face Mookie Betts anymore.
Cons: Don't get to face David Price anymore.
Lolz at suggesting David Price and his contract are an asset.FTR, the author is a Phillies fan.
The problem with the deal is that the Red Sox are SUPPOSED to be one of the rich teams. And they just gave up arguably the 2nd best player in baseball and a pitcher who is still effective when healthy, granted which isn't all that often, for a solid middle of the lineup type player and a pitching prospect that projects to be a reliever.
From a PR perspective I can tell you that the vast majority of Red Sox nation would have preferred to see the Sox lose him in FA next year rather than make this deal.
The Indians are in a similar boat but don't have the financial resources of the Red Sox.
The Red Sox could have unloaded Price. Eat half his contract and plenty of teams would have been willing to take him on.
Now what to they do? Their farm system got Dombrowski'd. They have some very good young talent that will run out of team options pretty quickly. And the Red Sox got demonstrably worse next year with little to no reason to believe they could be a serious playoff contender.
Yep, glad the Indians didn't do that with Lindor yet but don't worry...it will happen soon
Right here:Where the hell did I do that?
pitcher who is still effective when healthy, granted which isn't all that often,
i think the move had more to do with getting price off the books than anything. i also think the sox will be in play to sign mookie after next year, and will have gotten verdugo out of the deal (and they can move benintendi then). also got a potential closer. so, in theory, they could have upgraded the OF, the pen, and still get mookie back. bloom, if anything, is very creative. i think hes looking a year from now.
Oh great, he's a Phillies fan.FTR, the author is a Phillies fan.
