I was discussing this on another site, and someone there thinks that it's very rare and that maybe only 2 QB's are capable of this. He didn't name which ones. At the very least, I think the following can throw it 70 yards for sure:

1. Mahomes (can throw it at least 80 yards, I believe)
2. Josh Allen (about the same as Mahomes)
3. Rodgers (I'm basing this off of that Hail Mary against the Lions)
4. Mayfield (I think I've seen a highlight where he throws the ball around 65 to 70 yards)

I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson can do it as well. I'm not sure if Roethlisberger can still throw it that far, but he at least used to be able to. I really wouldn't be surprised if something close to half of NFL starting QB's can do it. Who else do we know for sure can throw a ball 70 yards? Which ones do we think probably can?

Mahomes and Allen for sure...maybe Rodgers and Mayfield...I just have seen it.

Ben...no, the thought of it shot paid up his elbow!

That's what I think, too. It seems like it's especially true for the guys who also have a baseball background.

I'd bet most NFL starting QB's can. the ones OP listed are probably the most likely to be able to throw it 70 yards in somewhat of a planned area. Not just hauling back and throwing as hard as you can with no idea where you threw it.

Last year my 16-year-old grandson was throwing a football from his own 35-yard line into the opposite end zone. His team was practicing deep kickoffs and the kicker could only get it to the 20.

Throwing a ball 70 yards isn't that strange. Matt Cassell could throw the ball from one end zone to the other and it didn't make up for accuracy or being able to read a defense.

Are we talking just pure throwing power here or delivering an accurate ball 70 yards down field? I'm sure a lot of NFL QBs can blast it 70+. Probably a lot fewer can deliver it accurately consistently at that distance.

Come to think of it there's a video on Youtube somewhere of Mohamed Sanu throwing it 70+ yards. It's probably not as rare as people think.

And Mahomes threw a ball out of the stadium, didn't he?

Just pure throwing power was what I was thinking about. Yeah, I agree that in a game situation, accuracy is a difficult matter. Kinda related to accuracy is timing, as the QB will need to throw it to right spot at the right time, and he will need the pass protection for such a long play.

I was actually surprised Bradshaw was in top 10, didn't realize he had a cannon

I haven't watched the video yet. Bradshaw did have those great deep throws to Swann and Stallworth in Super Bowl action. Is Namath on there? Namath supposedly had a cannon, too.

Yeah, accuracy and timing is pretty much everything on deep pass plays. I think most NFL QB's have plenty of arm power/strength to throw it very deep.

I remember watching the HBO documentary on Namath, and people were saying that when Namath threw the ball, they could hear a whizzing sound, and that Namath was the only QB they could remember whose passes did that. I don't think they were talking about deep passes, though. I think they were talking about bullet passes.

I heard Carson Wentz has elite arm talent, so I figure he could probably do it
