michigan recruits just fine. You have a fantastic 4-year average, that's a BS excuse. This is year 5 for Harbaugh and you have a blowout loss to Wisconsin and another loss to PSU. His "potato salad" speech was one of the more pathetic things I've ever heard from a HC. He is in year 5; there should be no more excuses if he's actually the real deal. When it come to money and resources, michigan is at the top of the mountain with teams like OSU, Alabama, and Texas.
Not with top 10 talent though. We have a lot of 150-300 ranked guys. It's that elite talent that separates us right now. We still rely heavily on developing the 3 star talent we bring in. Our classes are good, which is why we're a consistent top 20 team. But we really need to start bringing in the elite talent if we want to beat OSU regularly (or ever).

Top 100 players:

2019
Mich: 3
OSU: 4

2018:
Mich: 0
OSU: 13

2017:
Mich: 6
OSU: 12

2016:
Mich: 6
OSU: 7

So in the last 4 classes OSU is out recruiting Michigan 36 to 15 in terms of top 100 talent. OSU could start an entire offense and defense of top 100 talent and have an entire 2nd string on one side of top 100 talent. Michigan barely has enough to start one side. The problem is there's a pretty massive gap between Alabama/OSU and everyone else. We have to find a way to beat a significantly more talented team, who prepares for us all season long, who is fully utilizing that talent.

So yeah, we recruit well and win 10-ish games a year and do well against most teams in the b10 because of it. We just struggle against the team that recruits about twice as well as we do. The gap between a top 10 class and the top 1-2 classes is significant in this case.

That final step is a bitch. We took a shot in 2017. Lost by 6. No excuse. Just couldn't get er done.
I think the difference is for us it means reeling in some more top 100 talent and finally taking that next step. I don't think it means much if Wisconsin beats OSU in the longer run of things. I think OSU's pitch to recruits is easy right now and it's hard to argue against 15 years of domination if you have no wins.

Here's the difference - OSU has plenty of non-top 100 talent all over the field, but they're coached the hell up. We have an elite QB and elite DE, both on the field and in the recruiting rankings, but michigan has had that recently also. You seem to forget that last year you had the #1 and #4 recruits in the 2016 recruiting rankings starting for you, and that got you nowhere. Look at some of our other extremely important players this year that were not top 100 recruits:

2015:
KJ Hill #153
Robert Landers #481
Damon Arnette #653
Rashod Berry #728
Davon Hamilton #998

2016:
Jordan Fuller #134
Tuf Borland #324
Malik Harrison #683

2017:
Brendan White #126
Pete Werner #277
Thayer Munford #285

2018:
Sevyn Banks #221
Master Teague #228
Chris Olave (!!) #329

We have some of those guys too; Devin Bush comes to mind. But the difference between playing those guys out of necessity and out of luxury are two very different things. We have a walk on starting at safety/LB right now. OSU is going to torch him. So it doesn't matter that there's some top 100 talent on the line, or another 5 star safety. Because he's going to get blown up. If Devin Bush is starting among top 100 talent, you have what OSU has. If Devin Bush is starting with an average 3 star, you have OSU dropping 60 points.

But you've had top 100 talent and haven't done anything with it. If you guys were pulling in Iowa-level recruits, it'd be one thing. You're not though. Outside of the 2018 class, you've had beastly classes in the Harbaugh era - 2016, 2017, and 2019 were all top 10, not to mention you have a former 5*, #1 overall recruit at the position playing the most important position on the field, and he's a 4th year guy in his 2nd year with the program. Patterson has been good, but he should be much better.

If you can't develop and line up your 4/5* talent all across the field, that's on Harbaugh. OSU can do that, but they're also developing 3* players into stars.

We've had a couple shots at B10 division titles, all derailed by Ohio State who recruits better.

It's fun giving Michigan shit but they'd definitely have a few division titles if they weren't paired with OSU

And we had a division title derailed by Penn State and Michigan State, who don't recruit anywhere near our level for the most part. What's your point?

Conspiracy? I think so. The only reason PSU has a title is because of a controversial call in the OSU game against Michigan. MSU won in a hurricane and because of the infamous trouble with the snap game; a fluke bounce. Like I said, one of these days the bounce has to go our way.

OSU's death star is so focused on blowing up Michigan that it allows MSU and PSU to sneak into the exhaust port and blow them up occasionally. We're poor Alderaan getting blown up.

More loser talk from the fan of a perpetual loser program. Pathetic.

Ohio State has had weaknesses the last two years. If Harbaugh was a good coach, he would've figured out how to exploit them. He has the talent to do it, no question. However, he's just not a very good coach.

2 years ago we were a 8-5 team. Last year you were a team on route to a national title and looked over Purdue. Hardly a team with a weakness.

They were just terrible then for the most part lol
They have finished second in the division once under Harbaugh. Ohio State isn’t the game holding them back.
