"A family friend I've known since the summer before....."
Would that have been when he was like a freshman in college or a HS recruit? "Family friend" lol.

ok.

Doesn't it matter who the money came from? If it wasn't an agent, tOSU, or some alumni..........

What if an uncle game him money?

Speaking to an NCAA compliance expert on the Chase Young situation: "If it is a loan he repaid and can prove it--one game suspension might be enough." #OhioState

Uncles don’t become family friends from two years ago.

Thats interesting. If it was a loan and he paid it back whats the violation?
I dont think student athletes can accept personal loans unless the loan originates at an actual financial institution. Im sure its to prevent boosters/agents from "loaning " money and then claiming it was repaid when it wasnt. Not saying thats what hsppened here but it would be too easy to get around impermissible benefits if you could just "loan" money to kids

1. Player received money/loan for family to travel to Rose Bowl. Not his mom or dad etc., he received the money.
2. In his own words "...family friend I've known since the summer before my freshman year...". Family friend gained after his commitment to tOSU.
3. Repaid the loan. Going to need to see some paperwork, preferably legal in nature.
4. The timing of this is suspect to say the least.
5. Its the NCAA, anything or nothing is possible.

"A family friend I've known since the summer before....."

That is the part is laughed at with the statement. Also, if he took the loan from a ‘family friend’ to fly his family to the Rose Bowl. Why didn’t his family ask the family friend for the money themselves?!?

The guy is still a beast, but from the sounds of it, he didn’t go to OSU to play school.
