LOL @ having a $200 million dollar payroll and missing the playoffs....or the other 2 that didn't get it done in the LCS... I guess they're going to go to $275 and see if that gets it done...haha
I did not realize this:
The 2010s will be the first time decade in a century the Yankees did not reach at least one World Series.
Won the most games this decade though. Weird
The more teams they add to the playoffs, the harder it is to reach the World Series.
A lot of the earlier decades, best record was all that mattered. There was no ALCS.
Now we have a team that has never won its division but has won the World Series twice (Marlins).
Plus MLB playoffs is a crap shoot. The best team doesn't often win the title.
Yeah, the Nationals are one of the highest. But salaries in mlb are kind of weighted heavily towards what a player has already done so some of those teams with the real high payrolls are teams that recently won the world series and might be overpaying some of their players. It's not like these are two small market clubs.
They are both top 10 in payroll
A lot more for the money
When is the parade for that? Asking for a friend
Bullpen days are stupid as fuck
Not just more teams to the playoffs, but more teams period. Remember back in the day when the Yankees won seemingly every year in the 40s-50s, there were only 8 teams in each league, and no inter-league play either. Now there are about double the teams in each league, first it was division winners (2), then more divisions so they added a wildcard. The more teams they add to the playoffs, the harder it is to reach the World Series.

This is why baseball has 5- and 7-game playoff series. If you can’t prove you’re better than one other team (that you play against directly) in that number of games, then your team sucks. It’s not like the same level of effort goes into 162 regular season games.Plus MLB playoffs is a crap shoot. The best team doesn't often win the title.
