All they can do is play the team on the schedule.
They can't control the fact that the teams they have played have a combined record of 5-15 or the fact that they have played 3 non conference games in a row against the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams in the worst division in football.
Niners have 3/4 of the season to go with no bye. The second half of their schedule is much tougher than the first half. They have a lot of injury prone key players that have a lot of games in a row to play.
You can hoist the 2nd place trophy through 5 weeks, but adversity is going to come. How they respond remains to be seen.
