Hoping for a tie. Bears fans are becoming insufferable after one good season, thought several years in cellar would humble them a bit
All fan bases are insufferable when their team is good. Packer fans are insufferable at all times.

Roger Goodell is a wanted man in these parts.
The Mass State Police won't protect him here.

I know he has been here since but we will always remember.

Me too.

Tis a head scratcher.
It's not every year the NFL turns 100 years old. Makes sense to put the charter franchise and their biggest rival in the opener, the two teams that have the most games played between each other in NFL history.

1985 and Ditka will live on in insufferable fashion forever... and there is no larger an oxymoron than humble Bear's fan...it's like Superbowl champion Vikings

Same thing happened when the Cubs finally won one after a century. They suddenly started acting like Yankees fans.

Give me a break. Anyone who's invested enough to be on a message board talking about the team is of course going to be at least a mild homer. And Chicago is a football town first and foremost so fans are going to get excited when the Bears are good, especially considering they haven't been sustainably good in a long time.

Relax Nelly, if you can't see it was a dig you're dumber than everyone thinks. You'd also be very naive to believe that Wisconsin isn't Packers first.

I know it was, but it's tiring to see everyone ragging on Bears fans for being homers. A bunch of pots calling the kettle black.

It may be slow to get the news out on the west coast but with this being the 100th anniversary of the NFL they decided to do something different this year having the 2 teams with the longest rivalry with both teams 100 years old playing in there 199th game against each other open the season for historical purposes

NFL is always tinkering with things though, I think it's cool that the Champ get's the first game, I get the 100 year thing but meh .... Game should be in New England, title banner lowered, celebration of a great season, then just mention the 100 year thing...

The 100 year anniversary will be a big deal. They'll smear it all over everything tonight, beleedat. And if they're going to do that, there's really no other option than to have it with the charter franchise in their own house.

Ironically enough, it's like a flip from last year. Bears @ Packers was the opening Sunday night game last season while the superbowl winner opened on Thursday. This time, it's Bears and Packers on Thursday night, superbowl winner on Sunday night.

Don't matter to me who plays first.
What matters is who plays last.

Yes I can understand those thoughts coming from a fan of a team that has only been around since there has been a Super Bowl. The thing is though that without those early years and the things those teams had to do back in those early years we would not have the NFL that we have today for you newbies to enjoy.

Did I mention that Bears fans can kiss my hairy ass until the game ends? :)
