Not a super user friendly way to list that.
Agreed.....They should have listed that in the contract summary.

Actually its perfectly understandable as his Option salary isn't determined yet, nor has the team activated it.
Tag next year will be closer to 33M. Ryan is the 5th highest paid QB at 30M. Wilson first at 35MDak Prescott could actually be looking at the exact same think Kirk Cousins went through. It could work for the Cowboys or it could blow up in their face.
I think we can all agree that Dak is somewhere in the area of 13-16 when it comes to QB rankings. Many have said he does not deserve to be paid top 5 money and I think the Cowboys believe that as well. The problem with that argument is that the QB market is not set based on talent but based on the franchise QB availability. Being a franchise QB does not mean that you are 1st team all pro. It means that you can lead the team you are on for the next 10+ teams because you have the ability to play the position at a high level. Dak is not going to carry a team but with the right pieces he can play really well. He has shown that.
The franchise tag for next season is set to be at $26 mil next year. That is within the range that I feel Dak should be paid ($25-$28 mil) as a QB. If you take into account that for the most part teams overpay especially for the QB position signing Dak at $30 mil does not seem that far fetched. The Cowboys could Dak for the next 2 years at the money they feel he is worth at $26.7 mil next years. We need to assume a jump for 2021 so let's say that number is at $29 mi. Those numbers probably fall in the range he should be paid.
Now this is where this could all blow up in the Cowboys face. If they do this they are going to have to pay Dak even more money after the 2020 season because as we all know QB salaries are going to go up. They may not want to pay $30 mil now but after 2020 they may be looking at $35 mil a year. The biggest reason using the Cousins tactic can blow up is because of Patrick Mahomes. He is in the 3rd year of his rookie deal. There is no 5th year option on his contract so I can assure you that he will not go into training camp next year without a new deal. If Mahomes does a repeat of last year we are looking at the NFL's first $40 million dollar QB. That could only mean more money for Dak. No he is not near as good as Mahomes but if Mahomes gets $40 Dak can make the argument for $35.
Yep, and by then Dak will be around the 10th to 15th highest paid QB.I guess when Baker's contract is up. 5th year option in 2022, FA in 2023. He will be probably get $40M-45M a year lol
That 40M has already been shown to be an inaccurate report.Zak Prescott wants $40MIL a year...he needs to be drug tested immediately and everyday....because he's gotta be on something thinking that crazy....

$40MIL...$35MIL...$30MIL...$25MIL...$20MIL.....which ever amount he settles for he better give half to Elliot...without Elliot he might as well be Christian Hackenberg...That 40M has already been shown to be an inaccurate report.
Try to keep up.
I'm a Cowboys fan and I'm not defending him.
How is the QB franchise tag only $26M next year? It has to be over $30, no? It's $25M this year. Then 2nd time he is tagged his salary automatically goes up a minimum of 20%. I'm guessing $32M 2020 and then it would be $38.4M for Dak in 2021.Dak Prescott could actually be looking at the exact same think Kirk Cousins went through. It could work for the Cowboys or it could blow up in their face.

You can't exercise his 5th year option until after the 3rd yearI was talking Mahomes. According to this Patrick Mahomes he does not have a 5th year option. Of course I could be reading it wrong. Probably not listed because they have not activated it yet.

I suspect Dak will hold out if they tag him or at least if they try to tag him twice
Oh, it's on the internet
Well if you get $40M, I deserve at least $42MHey, I want 40M a year as well.
