Best American Band All Time?

The Dead would be the other band i'd list first or second on the overrated list.

I do respect everyone's opinion I just don't understand how anyone could list the dead as their favorite American band, off the top of my head I don't think they would be listed in my top 1,000.

Nirvana is on my overrated list. Having said that I realize how important they were...

Nirvana was instrumental to music in their era. Kurt was a genius imo. NIN would be on my list Reznor was something special. Helped a lot of bands too like rammstein. A lot of options The Cure would be up toward the top imo. They don’t always get the attention tho.


Couldn’t have been easy to narrow down the list. Prince, Chris Cornell... great thread no’s

They were more of a live experience. If you’re judging them on studio albums, they pretty much sucked.

Allman Brothers are up there though. Pretty sure they're the only band that has 3 members on Rolling Stone's list of top 100 guitarists(Duane Allman, Dickey Betts and Derek Trucks, though Trucks was just a touring member in the later years and formed his own band with his wife, that I'm also a big fan of)

Little Feat is probably the most underrated.

Ramones probably deserve to be on the list too.

I have been an Allman Bro fan since I was in HS. No one else even knew who they hell they were until I turned it up in the lockeroom. I have been listening to Play All Nightive at the Beacon Theater a lot recently

A few years ago I would have agreed with you on the Beach Boys. However, their influence and studio innovations deserve some recognition. Their catalog of songs? Meh
