California (especially LA) doesn’t give a fuck about college football. They care about following a team that’s winning.

Is that really a change for California though? It's kind of the way it's always been it seems?

But I can remember when USC was always good, year after year, thus fan interest was good.

The answer is yes.

They are taxing away many of their citizens.

HS football has improved greatly in Nevada, Utah and Arizona over the past decade.

Cal football used to be the pinnacle of HS football in America. Now, they still have some good programs
but the state trails Texas and Florida by a wide margin. Another 5 years and they will trail Georgia.

To be fair, that was way before the game, there was probably people 5 miles away on the 405 that wouldn't get to the parking lot for another 40 minutes...man, I don't miss LA traffic.

Nice try. Why would the USC band perform their GRAND entrance LONG before the game started? California is Soviet Union/China/Venezuela/North Korea when it comes to sports.

The last Game I attended at the Coliseum was sellout, and both the USC and the Stanford Bands performed before the game. Ironically, the Stanford Band did some kind of odd ode to L.A. Traffic!

Too many teams in Cali, too many transplants, too much to do, etc.
We have 2 in Michigan and occasional non-power 5 to root for. My buddy moved back from SoCal and said it was rare for them to get together for a San Diego game. Everyone had their own team and stayed home to watch on the ticket or stream for college then meet in the evening to smoke and surf.

Can't speak for everyone but he told me this on a few occasions.

1973?
California/PAC12 should have the biggest fan support in the U.S.
Their culture of the left (and all things "Anti-American") has destroyed that. And that is sad for all of us.

2013. See pic below. Except for the Student Section Corner (late arrivers / early leavers), the grand old stadium was packed all around.

Washington has led the PAC in attendance the past few seasons.

Great place to see a game! I went to the 1992 USC @ Washington game when the Huskies were ranked #1! Look forward to going again in the future to see the renovations! Perhaps Iowa State @ Washington - after the Huskies join the Big Xii? :)

I’d reverse that. California outside of LA doesn’t care about college football. LA (well USC because no one cares about UCLA) may not care like other states do but Berkeley has professors wanting to drop sports and Stanford has the best overall athletic department in the country but can’t pay people to sell out an arena or stadium.
