We should make a trade for pitcher that has ace upside. We play in a pitchers park. Someone like Nola would be great here. He's not going to get anywhere with Philadelphia.

With all due respect trading for a pitcher that has ace upside is much easier said than done. The Phillies are still in the race for the NL East so why would they even consider trading Nola?

Honestly, I don't share you rainbow and unicorn feeling about this team. Way too many missed opportunities, just like mentioned above, why the hell was DeJong standing on second instead of third? Fundamentals.......

First of all I agree with you that DeJong made a base running mistake yesterday.

I don't have a rainbow and unicorn feeling about our team but I do have a good gut feeling about them. I just believe that we are a better team than what we have shown through 88 games and since we are in the NL Central it might not take but a few games over .500 to win this division. Yes, we have missed many opportunities, pitched like crap, and hit like crap for over half the season but we are still only 2 games back at the break. I never give up until the numbers say I have to!

Why would Philly be in the business of selling off their ace? That wouldn't make the slightest bit of sense for them.

I replied to Brees before I read your post but you are absolutely correct.

It wouldn't, but he will eventually want to move on to solidify himself. He's not a top tier pitcher with them. But the Cards need what has worked for them and that's pitching.

I don't think I got it the first 3 times @Brees#1 so thank you. But he has zero say until he's a free agent in 23, IF the Phils don't pick up the team option they have for that year. So I don't think he can really just move where he wants right now.. or for another 4-5 years.

I don't think @Brees #1 understands how baseball and contracts work but maybe he is just learning, I don't know.

Yea, the guy with a 3.42 ERA while pitching in Philly (and is coming off a season with a 2.37 ERA) needs to solidify himself elsewhere.

Lol.

Use of the shift plus a slow runner gives some strange play by play on Gametracker

Wacha to the bullben and Ponce moves into the starter role. I'm glad they are shaking things up. The line up needs to be next. The Cardinals team batting average is .243. If that holds, it would be the worst since 1986 and before that 1908. So I think it is safe to say historic low.

I like the move to exchange roles with Wacha and Ponce. In fact Wacha might be gone before the trading deadline based on what I have been reading.

I also like the fact that we won our first series coming out of the all star break!

I don't really even have a suggestion of how to light a fire under the hitters. Something needs to be done. Something that the line up can feed off of.
We cannot continue to define insanity (doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results).

I hear you man and I don't have an answer either but at least we've scored a few runs lately to go along with some pretty good pitching which is a start. It doesn't help to have both Molina and Ozuna out of the lineup at he same time and it sounds like Ozuna is still a few weeks away from coming back. O'Neil is finally starting to hit some but I think Bader has got to be sent back to Triple A to try to find his stroke again. You said it best in your last sentence my friend.
