Not really anything remotely similar. Michigan OSU has determined the division winner pretty much ever since Harbaugh arrived. (and Michigan is one of less than 20 teams to have won a national title in the last 25 years).

No one could honestly compare the two, unless they knew they had a losing argument and were going for cheap jabs instead.
Didn’t have any bearing at all in 2015 or in 2017.

Yes, it was a rivalry. And your gold pants show why it wasn't one of the best rivalries to start. In the first 30 games from the start of the rivalry until 1933, OSU had just 6 total wins. It was the start to a better rivalry between the two schools but wasn't something that cemented it as the best.

Well congrats on all those meeeechegan wins in the rivalry from when Babe Ruth was still a P for the Red Sox. You're trying to pick & choose when this became a rivalry. Going as overly biased as saying it wasn't a rivalry until Bo showed up.

Woody's dislike of that team up north started well before Bo. But keep telling yourself otherwise. Because no matter what is said you've already made your mind up on this topic.

In other words it wasn't a rivalry when meeeechegan had the upper hand. It became a rivalry because of Bo. And it somehow reamined a rivalry until this century when Ohio State took command of the series. Homers will homer.

Alabama - LSU isn’t a rivalry game, it’s just a series that has been very good over the past 20 years, with Alabama leading 12-9 over that time, including 8-0 for the past 8 games. Prior to then, the series record was 41-16-5.

For pre-millennial Alabama fans, the Tennessee game was the biggest rivalry for many years, even bigger than the Iron Bowl, the only reason that it’s fallen so much recently is the current 12-0 run. I can assure you that when the Viles were going 9-1 against us from 1995 to 2004, it was still a rivalry to us. I just wished they hadn’t canned Fat Phil so soon, we owed him some ass whuppins.

A rivalry has that something special and that something special is evident it the Iron Bowl. Many have said that ohio state has been kicking our asses this millennium, which is true, but that does not diminish the rivalry for the true football fans (regardless of what @MAIZEandBLUE09 says). Basically, it just adds to the hatred I already have for ohio state.

Except in that time, even though OSU has been dominating it, Michigan has still come in ranked, still had chances at B10 titles, national titles ect. and some of the games have been some of the best CFB games ever. So it's just not comparable to a boring Navy/Army game every year with no meaning.

No, I'm not. I'm suggesting when we went from just a rival to playing in one of the best rivalry games ever in any sport.

IF Michigan beat OSU in 2017, MSU goes to the title game.
That’s a BS answer because you can say that about every single conference game that Ohio State won in 2017 determined the division title.

My point was that the game often holds added importance; one team winning or losing impacts the outcome of the conference title or division title.

(1) Babe Ruth didn't start in the Majors until 1914 ... The Game was a rivalry before that ... 1902 ... 86-0 win over ohio state still feels good.

(2) Still a rivalry ... ohio state never lets up when they are ahead (neither will we, when that time comes). The hate between the two just feels good and right.

Your 100% Correct!! We don't play ohio state so Michigan State can win the B1G. MSU can win (or lose) the B1G on their own. If we went 1-11 and that win was against ohio state it would still be a good season, if it was against an undefeated ohio state, it's sweeter.

You know nothing @MAIZEandBLUE09 . You should go somewhere where they have a sewing circle forum.

I'd suggest you go somewhere else to talk about bad, unentertaining, football rivalries. I'm sure there's a Northwestern vs Illinois forum somewhere you can jump into. I'm sure they'll even let you go into Indiana vs Purdue (but that might be too exciting for you).

You have no idea why I mentioned Ruth do you? Too funny. Well here's why. Part of Yer Boy mNb09's # 120 comment- In the first 30 games from the start of the rivalry until 1933. And it's hilarious you take so much pride in a game from 1902.

1. I'm old :nod::pound:

2. Every game that has ever been played is history ... my thoughts are just deeper than yours. When digging a well, do you stop 6 inches into the ground ... nope. You dig until you find what you want.

3. Who could forget these guys?

Interesting list. I Never thought the LSU/Bama game was much of a rivalry, just two elite programs playing each other the last 20 years. Also, I always considered UF and FSU to be more of a rivalry than UF vs. UGA.

#1 for me is Bama vs Auburn. No one program has had as much success against Saban as Auburn has in the SEC.

USC vs ND should be on the list. Cal vs Stanford should not be. BYU vs Utah is underrated.
